I want to know how on Earth it's possible to get audio out of sync. Like, surely.. SURELY this is one of the easiest jobs in the world.

What the hell?

I hope they produce something like this. About an hour recap on the season, highlights from each game all the major news stories, coolly narrated with some fresh background music.
My favourite video as a kid, watched it countless times about a season where we just made the prelim :$

Edit: here is the full thing!

Mate of mine emailed them about an all season pack (and to complain about the quality of the DVD he got at the family day) and got this response.

Hi,

I am sorry that you’ve had a disappointing experience with the DVD , I will pass this feedback on to our product team.

Yes we will be releasing the complete season collection , this is due out early December, it will be a DVD release but also include a Blu-ray copy of the Grand final.

Kind Regards

Thanks for posting that!! That's the one I'm hanging out for! I've saved all the wins this year off TCH, first year I haven't bought any off Name A Game. It would be awesome to have the whole season to go through on DVD. It may even be interesting to watch the first Adelaide and laugh any time one of their players gets arrogant and aggressive with our boys as they get further in front :D

The sen call is not as out of whack as the others . 3aw call is really out of sync
Have sent off an "enquiry " hoping to get a response
Simply asked how after a month and with all the technology available they couldn't manage to get it done properly

let me know how you go because for me its almost un-watchable.

That's good news

Although that prob mean ill double up on a blu ray grand final

I ordered the "Premiers Pack", which has all our finals, I think it's a DVD and no Bluray.
What's the quality on that one like? Is it worth watching or best to send it back for a refund and wait for something better?
Happy with the Blu-ray, not tried the radio calls yet tho, not too fussed about them.

At least they haven’t called us orange and black like foxtel...
Black and gold is bad enough, but orange? Which f**kwit said that?

like many I watched it countless times. Even memorised some of the narrations (my fave was the norf game where we went nuts... "alongside him the towering stuey edwards!")

Sent an email to the AFL regarding this piece of shit, got this response.

Thank you for your email.

We were disappointed to read about these issues with the Premiers DVD and have raised your complaint with our DVD licensee Beyond Home Entertainment (Beyond). Beyond has provided the following feedback in relation to the two issues:

Quality

Beyond encodes the broadcast master at the highest possible bitrate allowable for disc capacity; unfortunately there are simply limitations to how much data will fit on a dual-layer disc (DVD9). Unlike most films and television programs, live sport can easily max out the capacity of a disc due to its ‘busy’ nature – constant movement on screen, panning, colour, sound etc. The match broadcast runs for approximately 3 hours plus bonus content on top of this. Beyond does its best to limit the impact of video compression but unfortunately it can be evident during playback.

Out of Sync Radio Commentary

In order to have the Premiers DVD available the day after the Grand Final, Beyond’s overnight authoring team only have time to do a spot-check the alternate radio commentary tracks due to time constraints. Unfortunately due to the nature of the radio calls, which are technically already behind play due to the radio broadcast lag, the sync issue was not spotted during this spot-check. Once Beyond was made aware of the nature of the issue it had the authoring house create a new master immediately. However by this stage the first run of the Grand Final DVD, Blu-Ray and Victory Pack discs had already been pressed and packed.

As the vast majority of customers watch the Seven broadcast commentary (which is in sync), a decision was made not to recall the original discs and we support Beyond’s decision based on its expertise in this product category. However, Beyond are more than happy to send out new/replacement discs direct to customers for any that request a replacement.

If you would like to accept this offer, Beyond invites you to contact them directly at info@beyondhe.com.au and they can organise a replacement copy for you.

Kind regards

On the info description on foxtel for their tiger-thon. Obviously some work experience kid in Sydney did it.
A stupid one.

"However by this stage the first run of Grand Final DVD, Blu-Ray and Victory Pack discs had already been pressed and packed."

It took them 1 day to pump out those DVD's, but instead of destroying the Blu-Rays and releasing the correct ones, they waited a month and released them anyway knowing full well they were faulty.

Clearly they wanted Richmond supporters to foot the bill of their **** up instead of copping it on the chin for their mistake.

What a company of absolute cockbags.

Exactly what I was thinking. When my BluRay arrives I will be immediately requesting a replacement, and if they want the original they should pay the international shipping.

Exactly what I was thinking, the actual blu ray disc are dirt cheap to replace. The packaging can easily be opened and put the new blu ray back in and seal. They had plenty of time to do it.
