No. Both are the same. Both are 'duty of care.'The person that goes surfing and hurts his knee did not choose to hurt his knee either. The choice he made was to go surfing. Nothing more than that. On the other hand, the choice Polak made was to walk in the path of a tram, even though he didn't choose to get injured by doing that. He still made that dangerous choice though, and I certainly wouldn't have made that choice. Adam Ramanauskas did not choose cancer.

I don't know why Polak/Cousins turned you away at a bar one night, but don't take your frustration out on them.

So you're essentially saying Polak chose to get hit by a tram.

You're a joke.

You really are a condescending prick aren't you?

The way I see it Richmond should not be allowed another pick. Especially at this late stage.

In that case, Polak cant be rookie listed. You cant have it both ways.

He's either rookie listed, and that creates a PSD vacancy, or he isnt rookie listed, and they dont get an extra pick. Thats the way the system works.

The bottom line is if Richmond can get this done it is a great coup and great for footy. Regardless of if it should happen, it will be a feel good story. I don't agree with it but I'll be stoked to see cuz tearing it up again.

As much as i am against the method Richmond are using i totally agree. It will be so good to see COusins back playing footy again. I just don't see why the Tigers couldn't use their Pick 6 on him and do it by proper avenues.

By round 1 when Cousins runs out, all this will be forgotten....its just a dangerous precedent the AFL will be setting. The Rama decision was the first of its kind...but this may open the flood-gates...especially since Richmond had the option of doing this earlier in the year.

But when Cousins gets his first kick, i doubt anyone will care, it will just be good to see him back out there.

But it is a clear abuse of the rules and i fully agree with all that are against it.

I think you may be wrong Timmy. If Richmond could still get what they want following the normal process, they would not have gone to such lengths as they are. If the player Richmond were originally planning to select with their PSD pick is eligible for the rookie draft, they could select him there, however, there are 7 other clubs with selections before Richmond in the rookie draft. If Richmond are aware that one of those 7 clubs intends on selecting the player that they want, the only way they can get both him and Cousins is to create another pick in the PSD.

Ah, I see...so it's not about Graham's welfare really is it?

LTI + Promote rookie = Graham looked after, within the rules.

Take a rookie and promote him and take Cousins in the PSD.

Surely they have more than one youngster in mind. Even in this thread there have been half a dozen names mentioned and not even Tiger fans can agree which one the club is targetting. Remembering also theres a few interstate clubs ahead of them in the rookie draft and they are quite likely to choose locals anyway.

:confused: I don't think you get it mate.

Exactly.

Its not about Cousins or Polak.

Its about Richmond wanting the youngster it is targetting (and may or may not have made promises to) and being 100% sure he's available, AND getting Cousins as a bonus.

:thumbsu: spot on, its also about the AFL wanting cousins back on the park, I'm just waiting for them to announce that he will also be salary cap excluded as well :D

Good on the Tigers for having a crack !

Just for one moment can everyone just look at the POSITIVE THINGS that can happen to a club if they took a chance on cousins.

1) Memberships will go through the roof.
2) make sure cousins becomes a spokes person for an organisation ie;health or community related against drugs and alchohol. plus the relevant club could pick up a huge sponsor.
3) imagine the money that would pour in to that club re Cousins making community appreances, this will help his recovery enormously.
4)the chance of having a GUN player at your club that would lift the profile and possibly a top 8 position, having a gun like that at the club.
5) will i believe have positive effect with the players at the club, especially the younger players who will benefit, enormously with regards to preperations for a game .
6)Could end up becoming a strong leader fopr that club ,and after all the crap has settled could help inspire that club to dizzy heights.
7)the relevant club cannot lose, becuse even if there was a relapse, the club would be seen by the majority of doing the great Aussie thing and that is helping and giving your fellow man another GO !

Copied from the Essendon board :

They put Cuzzy in an accelerated aging machine and out popped this :

Cousins? What does Cousins have to do with this? My opinion is based purely on Richmond's attempt to bend the rules by placing Polak on the mature age rookie list. Oh so sorry that I don't have the same bloody opinion as you sunshine.
So you're essentially saying Polak chose to get hit by a tram.
Making things up doesn't make you right. That is not what I said. He chose to walk in the path of a tram, unless of course the tram jumped off the tracks, or someone pushed him. However, I clearly said that I'm sure he did not choose to be hit and injured by doing so. That is what happened whether you want to accept it or not. Wake-up to yourself and read the words that I actually write and not what you twist and manipulate in your mind to suit yourself.
You're a joke.
You're on ignore now understandably. I won't be reading anymore of your posts. I hope you read the words that I actually typed this time.
