People here seem to forget that when a player is injured, that really makes a small difference to the overall quality of a team. Unless it’s the top 2 or 3 players in the team, player quality is pretty flat below that. So taking out a mid-level player makes little difference to team quality. Lose a Treloar and perhaps you’ve gone backwards by a goal. Lose a Scharenberg and you make little impact.

This whole “injuries” talk overestimates the effect on the team. What’s far more important is consistency of players. Richmond has that in spades. Collingwood don’t have time this year to get it.

I think it's a fair call. Scharenberg just injury prone with the worst injury for athletes so most would go Grimes for that reason alone.
