How the bloody hell did Ricky get Port and one other club - that escapes me who that was - to agree to the 30 June clause in the head coaches contract, that if the club wanted to re-sign the coach, they had to let him know by 30 June in the final season of the contract one way or the other?

How can a club not re-sign a coach when the season is probably 14 games in and still alive for finals on 30 June?

From a Port fan's point of view the 30 June 2009 re-signing debate with Choco was an absolute farce, and he was stuffed anyway, because the next contract offered was a substantially reduced salary and conditions were put on Choco which meant he was under a really tight reign from the President/Board and CEO, and when he lost 7 in a row in 2010 after being 5-2, he was talked into resigning officially, but was basically sacked because of the lingering resentment to the 30 June contract clause.
