Could ask you the same of what Nisbett said
Factually I don't think any of its wrong, but I think Nisbett comes across as arrogant and out of touch, which is not the first time, and I think it's a good reason for why the club is where its at where it is atm.

Which is why I think a lot of those complaining about it would have been upset no matter what he said

Has any club ever denied a player a trade request, resulting in the player entering the PSD? It might actually be a baller move, long term. i.e. don't mess with us, because we won't roll over.

Port refused to trade Nick Stevens to Collingwood (preferred location) many years ago. He was walked into PSD by Port and Carlton picked him up.

Wot others said.

Nick Stevens was the most famous.

Jack Martin got to the club that was intended after GCS took a stand. GCS was in a bad position. Carlton had pick 3 in the PSD and Gold Coast one of the two before them...

There's been a couple of others as well, but it's not particularly common.

Nah he will run out of puff early in the second half after racking up a solid 7 touches in the first half. Quality touches they were but still only 7.
To give Junior his due, the number of possessions are not the best assessment of his performances and influence on games.

He is one of those players who can turn a game with a few magical touches. 12 possessions for him were the equal of 30+ for others. Simple stats are not a good measure of him as a player.

He didn’t look interested in the second half of this year. Probably all this stuff going on in the background.

Has anyone mentioned Nick Stevens or Jack Martin yet?

GC and GWS both refused to trade Martin and Hately for what was offered in the last few years forcing them into the PSD

Turn it up.
He gave Rioli a whack on the way out and rightfully so.

For a start, It's letting Port know we won't be bent over.
If trade negotiations fall over, he goes to the PSD, that has nothing to do with the statement put out.

I bet you there would be more teammates pissed off than the ones who aren't.
You can still like the guy but not respect him his decision.

If we put out a statement saying "Thanks Willie, we wish you all the best and hope to facilitate a move
to Port", he gets accused of being soft.

I loved the statement.

Spot on. I'm as big a time to move on Nissy guy as anyone, but this is exactly how we should be playing this. Let Port know we expect a decent trade

I thought we were still bemoaning Nick Martin going to the Bombers, and talking about bringing Jack Steven back from retirement to re-energize the midfield.

Someone told me a few weeks back that Rioli has some debts and he went to the club asking money and he said he said he didn’t care what they did for him. Usually it’s one of them rumours you just roll your eyes and not believe but willie is that *en stupid that it wouldn’t be surprising
i know for certain that club was still very recently taking responsibility for organising a place to live for him so something like this wouldn't surprise me

Okay so this makes me sad a bit - kid can't seem to get his responsibilities right; poor with his finances, has kids and likes a doobie. Hopefully the AFLPA is there for him over the next few years to help with planning for his future.

Look I want a fair outcome and I don't really mind him moving on for a good pick as thats the player you should be trading. That said the little bitter part of me want us to take him in the PSD and waste a year of his career in a similar way he wasted 2 years of the clubs.

Would hate to end a relationship with you.

Stool etc

And to think, we paid this fool 2 years worth of wages to not play, paid his legal bills which included a QC which would have been astronomical, offered him ongoing support, still didn't sack him when he got caught smuggling drugs through an airport and he turns around and does this first chance he gets

He is fair game for booing when he returns to Optus Stadium, and i for one will be booing hard
I don’t think the club paid the legal bills per se. More of a case of the club using its connections to get him pro bono representation.

Still worth a shitload to him though.

Four year deal worth $4m + .....good money !!
It won't be $4m+.

$500k/year offers seem like it would be pretty on the money based on hype, reporting etc.

The median salary is ~$350K. I can't imagine there is this much media talk for a contract around that level.

Nisbett, arrogant and out of touch?

No argument from me on that front

However, in this instance he’s absolutely right re Rioli. The club are entitled to be disappointed and I see no problems with the CEO expressing that disappointment. He would know more than anyone what the club did for Rioli and the heat the club took for standing by him

He’d also know the minutiae of contract discussions as well as being involved in enough of them to know where they were heading. I don’t think you can blame him for being blindsided by an offer from Port that’s 4 years and reportedly more than being offered by not only us but also Richmond. Tbh, it’s a good deal for Rioli but a reckless one from Port

As for Daniel Cherny. Only an idiot wouldn’t understand why West Coast would be miffed and his justification that we should be somehow happy is predicated on an assumed trade that hasn’t eventuated. We might get a 2nd round pick but I guarantee that Port won’t offer that up without being dragged kicking and screaming

So what if it’s a 3rd and not a 2nd, does that still help our rebuild. He’s a Victorian based idiot journalist that has no idea.

Not a bright future sadly. Self inflicted to some extent. I have worked in a few remote communities, the issues are too complex for BF.

This is a classic bigfooty trade where both clubs have opposition ends of expectations
Can i ask, what trades from the last few years do Eagles fans look at and go, yep thats similar to what we should get for Jnr?
