Riccardi a genuine chance now. Put the Giants on his back and dragged them across the line in the last Q. He could do horrible things to the crows this week and be close to the outright fave
Na he plays on the third best defender and you got guys like serong who is younger playing mid against A-graders.

Riccardi's 3 games are better than any other rising star nominees games this year except Rowell.

Split the award in 2, one to Rowell and one to Riccardi
I mean, that's just categorically false, did you not watch the game last night, Serong was terrific. He's had several like that. King, Anderson, Rankine and Day have all had multiple games better than or equal to Riccardi's.

Riccardi has kicked 2, 4 and 2 goals...

His 3 games have been too notch.
If he can repeat it over the next 3, he had to be at least considered.
Probably too late, but exciting start.

They have been good and I dont want to take anything from him but saying his 3 games are better than anything anyone else has put out other than Rowell is just disrespectful to the others.

Riccardi has simply missed too many games unfortunately when there are plenty of kids who have built terrific seasons

Same can be said Rowell, missed too many games.

I get you, you really want Serong to win it.

My opinion is that Riccardi is a matchwinner, Serong is a ball accumulator, yawn. Got plenty of them.

Riccardi excites supporters from all clubs, he could be anything, could be a Wayne Carey, Nick Riewoldt...

Caleb Serong doesn't really excite anyone other than Fremantle supporters, "gee whiz he will get 25 touches a game!"

If he is the same conversation as those 2 end of his career I'll be very happy 😃

You manage to post a lot of dribble in very few words, and you must have incredible cognition to speak on behalf of everyone not a Freo supporter.

Like I said, Max King has had several performances better than Riccardi's 1st and 3rd game. He could be anything, he could be Wayne Carey or Nick Riewoldt

Deeply personal here,

Caleb Serong's father.

Relax, Noah Anderson would be winning it over your son anyway.

Would be a worthy winner over Riccardi since he's played several games better than him and played the whole season

WTF? Riccardi a genuine chance, having played only 3 games with a maximum of another 3 to go, though Rowell no chance based on his 4 games, where he was clearly BOG in 3 of them?

Riccardi's 1st game vs WC was arguably better than his 2nd (when he got the nom). 2 goals, 16 touches,10 marks, 4 inside 50s and 8 core involvements. Better than anything King has put up this year. And yeah, Riccardi was quiet for 3 quarters last night but when they needed someone to step up and drag them home he did it. In game 3! He is clutch

He also older playing on third best defender playing next to cameron while king gets the best defender.

I find Serong exciting

Its serongs to lose. He’s a gun. If Rowell can’t win it in 4 games Riccardi shouldn’t in 6. At this stage comparing Riccardi and King should be taken with a grain of salt. Not taking anything away from Riccardi, Riccardi is exceptional and I’d kill to have him at the saints. Has the tools to be a superstar but Riccardi takes the 3rd best defender while King takes the best. Much easier to score on Tom Williamson than Harris Andrews. He also has the reigning Coleman medalist to take the burden. King has the injured 189 cm Tim Membrey.

They are different sorts of players, and at this stage you'd have to suspect King goes on to be the better player.

Riccardi has put together 3 eye catching performances that have been rippers. King has been very good all year, but for the reasons above hasn't had the same "wow" games yet.

I still dont think it will happen, but if he does it 3 more times and has 6 "wow" games, I reckon he has to be at least considered. As it stands now, he wouldnt be in the first half a dozen choices. In a 17 game season, 6 games would be a really low number, and they'd have to be all really good games to be a genuine chance. Being back end of season and fresh of mind also helps. It is a nice hypothetical to ponder.

Sarong the rightful fave, Rankine & M King not without hope if they finishes strongly.

Riccardi is certainly a chance. Wonder how he slid all the way to 50.

Flip a coin between Serong/Anderson imo. Riccardi super impressive but 6 games really won't be enough for the judges, will be very surprised to see him up there. Expect to see Rowell with a few votes even though just the 4 games - 3 BOG's is pretty damn impressive

When Serong made his debut in R4 and lined up against Rowell, there was a bit of local coverage in WA about their personal rivalry over the last 2-3 years and how Serong bested Rowell in the Vic Country vs Vic Metro game last year - no idea if this was overstated or a journo reaching for a sub-plot (Vic-based draft watchers can probably add a bit of flavour to this).

Would be great to see Serong win RS this year and Rowell next year and for this to flourish into a rivalry for the next 10-12 years. A bit like Dusty and Fyfe being drafted in the same year and the endless debates about who is the better of the two.

Obviously, as a Freo fan, I'd love this to be a rivalry where both avoid the lure back to Vic and that it's played out with GC and Freo regularly competing for finals in the 2023-28 period as the two come into their prime.

Add in Young and Anderson likely to directly line up against each other (and both looking like they will be rippers in the future) it will be a nice sub-plot for the two mates from Vic Country (playing for a WA team) locking horns with two mates from Vic Metro (playing for a Qld team) over the next decade - all of them Top 8 drafts from the same year.
