This is f!@#$@$%ed - seriously cannot catch a break this year.

We finally get some guys back... only to have another bunch fall over.

Duncan is a loss and Henry was good for a couple of goals a week if nothing else.

Clark misses out on valuable development time and potentially another couple of games in the seniors.

Yay Jack Henry

Geelong will welcome back Brad Close, Jack Henry and Tyson Stengle for their Sir Doug Nicholls Round game against Fremantle at Optus Stadium on Saturday.

Close returns after serving his one match suspension, whilst Henry and Stengle slot straight back into Geelong's starting side after overcoming injury.

Mitch Duncan, Jhye Clark, Ollie Henry and Oliver Dempsey will miss the Round 10 clash.

Duncan has a low grade hamstring injury which occurred at the end of Wednesday's training session. It’s on the minor side and he will be sidelined for the short term.

Clark has suffered a navicular stress reaction. He was sent for scans after he presented to the medical team with foot soreness. The Club will take a conservative approach with Jhye and he will be sidelined for the short to medium term.

Earlier in the week GM of Football Simon Lloyd confirmed that Henry would miss a couple of weeks. Dempsey has been omitted.

The Round 10 clash with Fremantle at Optus Stadium will commence at 2.35pm AWST (4.35pm AEST).

For those tuning in from afar, the match will be televised on Fox Footy and Kayo.

I know positions aren't always kept on team sheets but I do expect Duncan's absence to station Tuohy on the wing.

A small forward line around Cameron and Hawkins can work as long as we aren't bombing it in to an outnumber. Close and Stengle are huge additions to that line.

J.Henry can swing forward when required and probably more as the game goes on. He'll add stability in defence too though so I'd like him to start there.

Much will depend on Holmes replicating his first half vs Richmond and not his invisible second. As well as Blicavs bouncing back around the stoppages. If Atkins has another great game it will go a long way.

Still going to be a bloody tough assignment. Duncan is a bigger miss than most people think.

Emerg players are Willis, Whyte, Mullin & Dempsey.

Dempsey looks like the obvious sub option but I'd cop Willis getting a run this week as sub.

Seems like Willis has played mid/forward in the 2's over the last few weeks and hit the scoreboard.
Would love to see him get a run at it this week. :thumbsu:

Nice to have Henry and Stengle back in the lineup but they haven't played for some time so I expect some rust from them (especially Jack Henry).

Duncan out also isn't ideal.

Injuries and luck aren't going our way so far this year... Still time for things to change so fingers crossed.

Anyway... similar to last week, I think it'll be just too much to cover (hope not).

Not sure betting agencies will fall for us like they did last week and offer $4+ odds early on Freo as they did to the Tigers.

I'll take a W in any way that we can manufacture one.

$1.59 to the Cats, $2.31 to Freo. Kind of feels like it should be the other way round. Given we kick fairly straight, it's a toss of the coin for me.

Breath of fresh air compared to the tigers board. The posters seem knowledgeable and respectful of other teams.

Come over and have a squiz before a western derby then

But in all seriousness our fans have a lot of respect for your club, and know that even with some players out it will be very tough. Looking forward to it and all the best guys.

We're down 1400 games of experience, not much talk of it.

Need Harry Taylor back for even one week in Strength and Conditioning so no more injuries in Freo game. Has his role in 2022 GF been under rated.
What a shite year of non stop injuries.
