Good stuff by the club. They’re doing a lot right off field: own VFL team, AFLW team, debt paid off, Carlton school thingy, redevelopment of PP, good VFL player write ups hinting at better development, the academy, etc...

The forum comments feel a little subdued ahead of Sundays game.
I think this could be our coming to Jesus moment.
After Teague put a bit of heat on the players (better late than never), the players responded well.
If we can back up from where we left off in the last quarter, with a solid win against the swans.
The team will take away real self belief.
I think there is enough talent in our team, if we can keep our turnovers to a minimum and connect when we transition.
I am equal leader in the tipping and I am picking us to win. Go Blues

Gonna be real pissed if he has to do it again.

Worse still the VFL team cannot play this weekend. You got to develop these guys and no point playing Newnes ahead of them when there is nothing the younger player can do this weekend.

Eh, comes down to whether LOB has ticked the boxes he needs to. Been getting a lot of praise in the reserves write-ups, but there's always a caveat, something that they're trying to improve that hasn't quite clicked.

I think it's fair enough to hold him out a while longer. It's a tough, accountable role, with mistakes having a lot of potential to punish you hard. Newnes isn't elite, but he's disciplined, does his job defensively and puts himself in good positions to impact the other way. Seeing signs of that from LOB, but I'd rather he comes in when we're confident he knows the role 100% - like Dow, yoyo-ing betweens the seniors and ressies won't help him as much as developing properly and coming in ready to perform.

It will be interesting to see if this method of development then means when given a chance he gets a 3-4 game block to prove his worth and not just 1 game as it currently is with someone like him (unless he has an absolute stinker and can't be picked the next week - like Parkes a few weeks back)

Yep. Feeling tentative. Swannies are bloody good. We can be....defence will have yet another change so it's harder for them to jell. Plus travel...
Not saying we can't cos we CAN.
just....not overly confident.
Would be AWESOME if we win.

Headscatchers from the match committee this week. Can't really fathom the logic if you're dropping Murph after his best game in a while, but were happy to tolerate some of his other performances. Levi in doesn't make sense either unless there's a late change as we're going in very tall. Martin in is not a surprise.

I am stunned by these changes.
If Martin was ready he was automatic.
I honestly thought Parks for Plowman was a no brainer, as like for like as we have.
Playing all of Levi, TDK and Pitto is very odd. Either Levi is playing down back, or we are expecting to play 2 of these bigs plus Harry in the fwd line at once. The forward pressure is going to be minimal at best if this happens.
And to drop Murphy after (in my opinion) he was huge for us in the later stages when the game was up for grabs is baffling.
Gibbons must have some dirt on some or all of the match committee.

Did Murphy actually travel with the team? I see he's listed as an emergency so I assume so but the first thought that crossed my mind was that maybe he didn't want to leave his pregnant partner and young son given the uncertainties with covid at the moment.

Martin for Murphy makes sense positonally although would have preferred Martin for Gibbons on form. Murphy played well last week.

Casboult in is a real head scratcher. Must be trying to stretch them upfront but i can see the ball coming out of that backline pretty quick in transition if it doesn't work. I guess our game plan is to just bomb it repeatedly so why not play 3 talls.

Other option is he plays back. Which he has done well in the past in 2019, let's hope his body is up to it.

Go Blues.

Yeah his first half was very ordinary, didn't even know he was out there.

He'll be 'rested'

It says omitted. Unlike Levi’s managed last week.

Wonder if this happens if there was a VFL this week. Would he have been dropped and would he have played in the seconds?
