Well, we're not going to see Menzel nor Docherty this week by the sounds of things.
Given they've both been playing under duress, it may just be a good thing they miss.

It's really opening up for the guys playing good VFL football.
Holman deserved his game last week and Boekhorst along with Johnson may just be rewarded this week.

Silver lining........................it has to be :)

Please correct me for being wrong, but Johnson isn't a nominated rookie, is he? Do we have a rookie upgrade left to do such as the post-bye upgrade? How long does that take to happen? Surely we would hear about it before mid-week if it were to happen.

I'll stop dropping Simpson when he shows some form. He was marginally better than last week.

His trusty left boot has deserted him. Turns it over from 40m or kicks to Kreuzer with 2 opponents on him, leaving him no chance to mark.

"Kick it to me, sideways".

Geeze your hard on Simmo, I reckon he has been a rock of Gibraltar in our backline the last few games. Get off his back!!

You could probably do it a few hours beforehand

I'd agree Simmo probably isn't moving as well as he once did, which would only also add to the problem that his disposal has never exactly been immaculate, but one thing that hasn't changed is his heart and bravery.

Still has something to offer IMO, as well as his experience, unless he starts directly aiding the opposition with nearly every touch, Ellard-style (sorry Davey, but that's what it seemed like).

We have spots on the LTI list for Judd, Warnock, Sheehan (though not sure if a nominated rookie can be replaced with another nomination).
Plus we can add another rookie at the half way mark. There should be room for the next guys ** to get a game in the seniors.
Wood
Sheehan
Byrne (LTI for Giles, though back in July)
Johnson**
Fields**
Walsh
Gowers
Russell

Northern Blues had a fantastic win yesterday, with many players putting their hand up for a senior gig. I realise the opposition wasn't that good, and it's hard to get an accurate assessment of the players performances. Boekhorst must be a consideration to replace Ellard this week, who struggled again at AFL level. I like the way Fields is coming along in leaps and bounds, and with the ability to use that lethal left foot kick to our advantage, is a real asset to our team in the future. I know he is presently a rookie, but I would like to see him upgraded before the season is finished and tried as a third tall backline player, maybe in place of Whitey.

Very rough on Simmo... Yes, we are in rebuilding phase, however, we need some older heads on field and around the club for next 2-3 years. Simmo is only 31.

I think Rowe stays in, we just shouldnt be using him as a linkman for the switch. He's our biggest and strongest defender - so he stays in to play on the Gorillas with White and Jamo to play on the quicker leading KPF's. White is more versatile, so can push into the midefield or off the HBF depending on needs.

Spot on as usual s_v.

It is all very well for some posters to say drop Rowe - but how do we match up with the Dogs.

It is no coincidence that 7 of GC's 9 goals were kicked by KPF's.

If Dogs play Boyd at FF and we play White on Stringer (the obvious match-up) who takes the resting ruck as from the games I have seen recently they have been rotating Minson/the other ruck deep forward?

Rowe has to play but if in doubt kick long to one on ones - not take risky switches.

And what form is Jamo in?

Simply put Jamo is a quality defender and I'd be backing him in to do a better job than White. White on the other hand is not in the same league as Jamo. Just because we have won the last two games shouldn't sugar coat the fact that White is more a battler who is servicable at best.

It will be carnage if Stringer gets into 1 on one situations on White.
