Carlton head into Sundays game against the hawks off the back of consecutive poor games against the Saints and Brisbane. Hawthorn are coming of a shock loss against Brisbane. which could see their finals chances take a huge hit. The blues are on track to claim this years wooden spoon while Hawthorn are 1 game outside the Top 8.

Recent history has the Hawks clear favourites as Carlton has managed just 1 win against them in the past 15 games.

Both teams are missing key ruck man, with McEvoy and Marc Pittonet both injured with the latter a game time decision. Carlton has its own ruck issues with Matthew Kruezer missing majority of our last game with a heart issue while Andrew Phillips is sidelined with a hamstring complaint.

The key to Carlton winning is to nullify Hawthorns lynchpin in James Siciliy. Ed C has a big role in running with Tom Mitchell and hopefully we can make the most of attacks with Charlie and Harry to stretch the Hawks D!

Forecast- Hawks by 37 points

Its going to be a bleak back end to the season, but jeez, can we stop the potshots at our mature age recruits. Yes, they may not be among the elite in the comp but it's not their fault that our club royally messed up it's list management so badly over the past decade that it now has an unhealthy reliance on delistees and reserves players. I mean, if we're being honest with ourselves, how many of the guys who get belted on here week in and week out are actually underperforming based on their performances at their previous clubs? I'd venture to say bugger all. If that's the case then perhaps it's us fans who need to look at what our expectations are of delisted / borderline beat 22 type players.

I’m going to have to watch the replay I guess, I didn’t think Shaw was as bad as others clearly do. I think he’s a no-brainer to get another game this week.

Do we have a fit ruck? If not, maybe it’s a chance to de-clog the backline and get Jones to fill in for Kreuzer. Rowe should be able to handle Roughead.

Graham back in for Lamb, or potentially Mullet.

Welcome to Carlton for Shaw, copped some atrocious disposals his way but also got caught a few times. Probably should get another shot at it though, 1 game is a pretty tough task to adjust.

- Lobbe for Kreuzer
- Byrne for Lamb (if not contested)
- Casboult for injured player not known about yet. Ruck relief & backup in case of injury to Lobbe. Rowe an option but think we should get him to 100 games. Another option of pushing Jones into the forward line.

Marchbank - Rowe - Simpson
Byrne - Jones - Thomas
Murphy - Cripps - Fisher
Lobbe - Kennedy - Ed
SPS - McKay - Charlie
Pickett - Casboult - Garlett
Int from: Dow - LOB - Silvagni - Shaw - Polson - Wright

And polson must be dropped. You can't carry a guy who doesn't get any possessions and his only attribute is 'pressure' when he is average at that anyway.

People comparing him to Simpson's first 3 games. Simpson played those 3 games in 2003 and then his next game was rnd11 2004 and even then he played only 4 games.

Send polson back to the reserves and tell him to work on his ball getting ability and disposal. He was getting bugger all disposals on the reserves when he got called up anyway

Lamb > Byrne
Silvagni > Kerr/Casboult (prefer Kerr, but pick Casboult if less sure about the tractor)
Shaw > Wright/Kerridge/Lang (if they're fit)
Jones > Weitering (if he's fit...)

FB: Thomas, Rowe, Byrne
HB: Simpson, Weitering, Marchbank
C: Fisher, Cripps, Murphy
HF: Dow, Curnow, Petrevski-Seton
FF: Pickett, McKay, Kerr/Casboult
FOL: Kreuzer*, Kennedy, Curnow
INT: O'Brien, Garlett, Wright/Kerridge/Lang, Polson**

* If fit. Bolts suggested he might be alright to play. If he's out I'm not sure who gets the call up to be #1 ruck, Casboult or Lobbe.
** I'd probably lean towards playing him but wouldn't be against another of Wright/Kerridge/Lang getting his spot if they're fit.

Need to start playing as many of next years best 22 as we can. Side is very shallow in the midfield. Slow and lacks quality and experience up forward. We haven't seen much in the way of quality replacing fill-ins all year and that looks how things will stay. Very thin at the moment.

Oh boy. Hawks on the rebound. At Etihad no less.

Just some effort thanks. Is that too much to ask? Also an attempt to change up our game plan when we inevitably concede ten straight goals. This zone crap can go away for the rest of the year.

In: Byrne, Lobbe, Lebois(why the hell not)
Out: Kreuzer, Lamb, Polson(I'm finally giving up on him for the year)

B: Pickett Rowe Weitering
HB: Thomas Marchbank Simpson
C: Murphy Cripps Fisher
HF: Garlett Curnow SPS
F: Wright McKay Silvagni
R: Kreuzer Curnow Kennedy
IC: Graham Dow LOB Casboult

Hope he gets up as we miss his competiveness, bigger body and ability to at least run both ways. I’ve forgiven him for the TV expose of his Lachie Neale poor marking given he hasn’t played since with a groin issue, which would explain his inability to run to his usual levels in Freo game. At this fragile stage, we play better when he’s in the team. Note, I’m not saying he’s a gun or the future!!
Good point re Kerridge with whats gone on this year with our injuries god knows how many of our fit players are actually carrying minor injuries themselves and are borderline outs week to week .

My thought... Casboult IN and rucks all afternoon... no resting forward!
He is only playing on Ceglar and should be ok to match motors with him..

Adds greater flexibility than adding a one dimensional Lobbe

Scratch that - Kreuzer confident will be ok for Hawks... carltonfc.com.au
