Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

It really amounts to very little as it is the sum of the parts that matters.

Our best game will worry North's best game most of the time for now, but we know how quickly these things can change.

Props to you Harker, what was a great thread was looking to be derailed your comment is succinct.
People get way to sensitive, l think Teffy added to the thread with some insightful information from a North perspective and other than the OP yours is the best post in the thread. :thumbsu:

best of luck with injuries and l hope you lose ;)

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

Am i the only one that wants twomey to stay in, some of his tackles and pressure are huge. Also is a good kick. We need hard bodies.
Not the biggest fan of Russell/Carazzo

I like him but he had 4 disposals and 4 tackles, that's not good enough.

Carrazzo is our best run with player and wins plenty of the ball himself, he is a must inclusion.

Russell will come in for Davies.

Do you really want me to do that?

These kinds of discussions are usually magnets for infantile fan boys that are incapable of measured football discussion.

Thats never stopped you from posting before...some of your posting has been childish wishful thinking

Gotta love posters who accuse others of being exactly what they are .

I don't think there's much difference in the 2 sides respective 5/6 -16 players, hence the reason I did not mention it.

Well, I do, but I;m not in favour of I said you said, type arguments from some fans with over inflated opinions of their side.... a sharp tongue is no indication of a keen mind...if you get my drift

Blues are better all over the park,

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

Came off very late in the game. Took himself off but there's a worry.

I was half watching The Sunday Footy Show and heard 'Kreuzer' and 'knee'. I shat myself, watched the rest of it to be relieved.

I was watching the match and saw him coming down awkwardly in the first and was worried as hell. I thought no... not his knee again and then he got up, went back and slotted it. My first thoughts after that was that will be a massive lift to his confidence in his knee after a jar like that.

I am expecting him to be going a bit harder at it now he knows that it's rock solid

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

The biggest difference between now and last year is Walker IMO. I can see him having a night out on Friday with a bag of goals.

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

POSSIBLE MATHCUPS? Im gonna have a go at how the teams might matchup Friday, including ins and outs.
IN: Atley
IN: Carrazo Russell Bower
OUT: Richardson
OUT: Davies Twomey Tuohy

B: Rawlings Tarrant McMahon
F: Betts Walker Garlett
HB: Firrito Hansen MacMillan
HF: Simpson Kreuzer Armfield
C: Wells Ziebell Greenwood
C: Carazzo Judd Scotland
HF: Harvey Pederson Edwards
HB: Gibbs Laidler Duigan
F: Campbell Petrie Adams
B: Yarran Henderson Bower
R: Goldstein Swallow Bastinac
R: Warnock Murphy Robinson
I: Thompson Harper Atley
I: Thornton Russell Curnow
S: Warren
S: Ellard
E: Cunnington Grima Richardson
E: Davies Twomey Tuohy

Rawlings v Betts
Tarrant v Walker
McMahon v Garlett
Hansen v Kreuzer
Greenwood v Judd
Swallow v Murphy
Goldstein v Warnock
Harvey v Gibbs
Edwards v Duigan
Campbell v Yarran
Petrie v Henderson

So many important matchups that will effect the outcome of the game. Carlton is in the 8 for a reason and North will have to bring its very best to record a victory. Wells and Swallow should hold their own against Judd and Murphy. Goldi is in great form so Warnock will have his hands full. Where the difference lies is if the Blues forward line gets on top of the North defence we will struggle as Walker, Betts and Garlett will outscore Petrie and Harvey.
If its close deep in the last quarter Carlton will get up but if North builds any handy lead in the second half well come away with the points.:thumbsu:

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

Good assessment taz.

IMO, Hansen/Tarrant v Kruezer, McMahon v Garlett, Greenwood v Judd, Spitta v Murphy will be where it is won and lost.

-Lachie and Tazza can keep Kruezer quiet, but if the coach gets "cute" and rotates Pederon on him then we will get exposed badly.
-McMahon smarts v Garlett speed will be interesting. Scott needs to keep Garlett cornered and not allow him to get behind him.
-Greenwood has been servicable on Judd in the past.
-Murphy is always going to win his share of ball around the middle, keeping his outside game quiet will be crucial.

There's no way I can see Tarrant going with Walker.

+1, saw it on telly and thought oh no !!!

Can't wait to see the big missile with a pre-season under his belt next year.
Could really put the special in Special K.

probably didnt help that the scum player was falling across his knee at the same time...

was almost panic time thinking that he had done it again... might have if it was at the jihad stadium...

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

armfield might be the ideal run with defender for harvey. not only will army match him for pace, but he'll keep running on. Id suggest yarran but I have doubts about his ability to shut a player down. I dont think the gibbs or god forbid, carazzo should be the right options for this one.

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

In: McLean Russell Carrots
Out: Curnow Twomey Davies

Blues by five goals

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

From Ratten presser.

Stated that Waite is still 1-2 weeks away, with Jamo 2-3.

I don't think the Blues will recall Waite for a few more weeks yet.

They'll keep him in cotton wool for the finals and bring him back in rounds 21/22.

No point risking them. They have to be cherry ripe for finals. I do agree with him that Petrie is our biggest danger. He's arguably the best contested marking fwd in the comp right now along side Cloke. Would love to have big Drew in our forward line.

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

I think Carltons top 4/5 are better or maturer than our top 4/5.

I think our 17/18 to 22 players are better than Carlton's.

Please don't view this as the invasion of Poland or some other kind of outrage, i'm not interested in some long drawn out argument, it's just my opinion.
most laughable post since we played Richmond
Out: Armfield
In: Anyone
NO!

Re: Rnd 19 - Carlton v North Melb @Etihad Friday 29th July 7:40PM

Guns surely we can't carry Armfield anymore? With a Mo' like that he deserves to be delisted. I'll think you'll find Go_Blues was under the same impression...

I think Garlett is due a big bag. Would not be surprised to see him snag a lazy half dozen on the back of another big win.

He kicked 5 against North last year.

Garlett was quiet.

Agreed. ..

No way Gibbs or Carrazzo could match him for pace. .. We'd be better off going head to head with him and running with Ziebell and Wells. ..

So Gibbs to Ziebell and Carrots (if available) to Wells sounds good to me. ..

Robinson/Scotland could always blanket Wells if need be. ..
