I know it's been a few days, but I genuinely believe RFK getting successfully nominated into the Cabinet is one of the darkest moments in American history.

It will be interesting to see if his proposals are measured, or just batshit crazy.
If he bans things like artifical colours and limits advertising for junk food, reduce sugar amounts in cereals etc, no problems.
If he starts advocating for methyl blue over the polio vaccine, then RIP USA.
RFK Jr. in the Cabinet is catastrophically bad, no doubt. Anti-vax, conspiracy-laden, and now in a position of real power. But yeah, if red states keep rejecting vaccines, proper public health measures, and basic science, natural selection might step in. Dark? Absolutely.
But it's not like Republicans haven't already been doing this to themselves. Look at COVID, counties that voted for Trump had higher death rates because they refused vaccines. If the GOP keeps pushing pseudoscience, they’re setting up their own voters for shorter lifespans. A win. Dark I know...
Of course, the downside is that this will also hurt vulnerable people trapped in these states... kids, elderly, and those who don’t buy into the insanity but lack resources to leave. The other issue? Martyrdom politics. If their policies kill off voters, the GOP will spin it into a persecution narrative, fueling more radicalization.
So yes, short-term Darwinism, long-term cult reinforcement.

Though that is a thing. Sunshine in moderation is good for you, no one is suppressing that at all. They only point out the risks of melanoma, so not sure what RFK is on about.

That's why I didn't find it. It's from four months ago...
Either way .. RFK Jr. is basically throwing everything against the wall to see what sticks... mixing legitimate medical research (psychedelics, peptides, stem cells) with debunked COVID grifts (ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine) and adding in some 'raw milk' and 'sunshine' for that folksy, anti-establishment aesthetic. In reality the FDA isn’t banning clean food, vitamins, or exercise. That part is just thrown in to bait the easily manipulated.
The real kicker? Conservatives are his biggest supporters, and they’re the ones who will suffer the most from his nonsense. Think about it... how many antivaxxers who swore COVID was just a flu are now permanently off voter rolls?
How many are dealing with long-term health issues because they thought quack cures were better than modern medicine? If RFK Jr. convinces his base that unregulated supplements, drinking raw milk, and taking mystery peptides are better than actual medical science, then Darwin’s gonna do what Darwin does best.
As frustrating as it is to see RFK Jr. spread this garbage, the silver lining is that he’s effectively creating long-term voter suppression strategy for his own supporters.
It won't be good when states start making vaccine bans like their doing for abortion related stuff. Then everyone will be in the same boat, most tragically the kids.
They don’t even need to go as far as bans. Just stopping support for school based vaccine roll-outs will have a huge impact. Plenty of parents who aren’t anti-vax will just not get around to getting their kids vaccinated.
It’s going to come to a point where other countries will have to consider refusing travelers from the US on health grounds if they’re not vaccinating against things like polio & measles.
