I cant help thinking this is all part of a masterplan by the AFL.

Maybe they are looking for excuses to not do the Western Sydney team, and to make North look bad.

How would we look bad? I don't think anyone expects us to have a massive following in Sydney or expect half the members to fly over for the final.

When we had a crap final against Port on a sunday afternoon many moons ago I don't think Port copped any criticism. For an interstate final I think they expect the home side to be fielding a significant percentage of the attendees.

If you can get 45k vs Eagles for a H&A game there then you should get at least that for a final.

I'll be keeping my eye on this board tomorrow for whispers as to where the glut of free tickets will be handed out.

Blew my dough flying down for North's pathetic showing against Port... didn't consider for a million years this fixture would happen.

As a Sydneysider though I have a healthy respect for your mob.

To a grand game:thumbsu:

That would be a real shame, you never know when our next home final is going to be. Still, I suspect the 16,033 quoted in the article is an older figure and hoping that the PAX numbers of around 25k are a better guide, in which case 35k wouldn't be a bad crowd.
Friday 5 September 2008
As of 4.30pm, 36,155 tickets were sold for Saturday's Adelaide-Collingwood elimination final at AAMI Stadium.
Only 17,127 tickets had gone for Saturday night's Sydney-North Melbourne knockout final at ANZ Stadium, which can hold 81,000 fans.

Yeah, I reckon 10k or so will buy on the day.

Here's hoping.

Geeze, that's a bit sad, when it's hopeful we'll get 30k.

For all everyone else bitches about us being the AFL's baby, they hang us out to dry a hell of a lot.

Stat how are they hanging us out ? nobody wants to go there and North have hardly any fans left

lets face it, yes we're in the finals, but we've been pretty shit mostly, even at home. swans are their own worst enemies in some ways. sydney is a fickle crowd, and if they dont get an entertaining game against decent opposition, they simply would prefer to stay home with the 30'' plasma. its a crap attitude, but thats sydney as a culture. sydney loves winners, they wont support for reasons of loyalty and the pure fun of it. posters on this board excepted.

How aren't they? They aren't promoting the game at all, which influences the size of the crowd, which in turn has an influence on our performance (Sure, a small crowd won't influence it negatively, but a big crowd would influence it positively).

I've seen two adds on TV for it, nothing else...

Though Roos was rather clever, by bitching about the advertising, he's actually increased the level of advertising. mX ran an article yesterday about his complaint that no one's advertising the game out at ANZ, in turn advertising it. ;)

I've seen it twice at night: once during Australian Idol on wednesday night, and once last night during The Simspons.

Problem is the only advertising is on Channel Ten because they're broadcasting the game.

The AFL has its motives, it will show up the Roos as a poor drawing side and should move from Melbourne. This will just demonstate how they have no support.
