Traded Rory Lobb - [Traded to the Bulldogs for #30 and F2]

Who? Micocek and Jack Hayes? We aren't going to pull a 200+ cm key forward who can ruck for pick 29.

Last year Gold Coast got Mabior Chol as a FA and Levi Casboult in the rookie draft. Year before Melbourne got Ben Brown for pick 33 and a 2 spot upgrade of a second, Essendon got Peter Wright for a future fourth, year before that Dogs got Bruce for 32 and 51, etc, etc.

Presumably Jackson will replace all of his ruck work, probably at a better standard too, and half of his goal output. I'm tipping you could readily find 18 goals somewhere.

Reckon Freo supporter are losing their minds a bit with this idea of how irreplaceable Lobb is, particularly with Jackson coming in.

Because we aren't going to replace a 207cm key forward with 189cm Josh Corbett.

Jackson is every chance to be playing all over the ground, keeping Lobb means we can probably trade Meek as it is another ruck option on the list.

The bulldogs pursuit of Lobb is really an indication that Jamarra may end up a bust. I mean if I had Naughton, JUH and Sam Darcy I don't think I'd be looking to bring Lobb in. Dogs must know something we don't.

English is also handy when he plays forward too!

The Bulldogs seem well stocked for KPF for the next decade already. I thought they would be more into Logue than Lobb!

Luckily you are brining in 199cm Luke Jackson then to play with 195cm Josh Treacy and still have 197cm Matthew Taberner.
Jackson who averages half a goal a game? Taberner that has never been fit for more than half a season? 3rd year rookie KPF Treacy who may or may not make it? Why should we rely on them when we have Lobb who is a better forward option than all of them.
The last part is again a laughable strawman argument as Darcy has played more time in defence then up forward
Yeah he was played down back until Bevo realised how crap your forward line was.

Walla will give you >1 goal a game in his sleep!

Exactly, this argument that the return for Lobb needs to be able to net them an identical replacement with the same measurements and statistical output is utterly bizarre and I haven't seen it outside of a few Freo supporters in this thread.

Jackson alone is going to replace a fair chunk of what he does, without even taking in other moves, development of their young key forwards, etc.

Where can freo find a replacement for Lobbs goals for 2023 with pick 29?

I can't think of any player who has requested a trade two years running and been held to his contact both times. Fremantle obviously have a right to hold him to his contract and demand value, but they'll probably let go once they secure Jackson. We'll need something more than 29 to secure the deal.

All seems pretty stock standard until this point, but Colin Young is the manager so the true interest is seeing what ridiculousness he pulls over the next week, he's ahem very focused on getting his client what they want.

I agree, I’m in the minority of Dogs fans but I don’t think Freo are bluffing and you hold him.
Ditto. I think we have to be looking at other targets

One of the main reasons Freo don’t want to trade Lobb is because it’s the last year of a heavily front loaded contract - so we’re getting high quality output at a low cost, and that’s what is really hard to replace. That’s why he has more value to Freo than other teams.

WB might be prepared to pay higher draft pick for him if they can get him for the same 2023 pay packet?

Have we actually got any proof of this front loaded claim yet?

Well AFL contracts aren't public, but this is a pretty tried and true formula in the AFL and it has been speculated about for quite some time so it's likely pretty accurate.

Correct we don't know however has it been reported? I'm yet to see it yet i've heard a lot about how back end Bowes contract is so wouldn't we have someone reporting on how unfair this is to Freo and how it's front ended?

Highly unlikely.

A point that seems to be breezed over is that there wasn’t an offer for Lobb from any other clubs last year.

Regardless, seems a bit of a long bow to draw that you are holding a player (who is contracted) unfairly, when nothing is actually put forward as a trade for that player.
Well no he requested a trade 2 years in a row whether anything or not isn't relevant
