Traded Rory Lobb - [Traded to the Bulldogs for #30 and F2]

I wouldnā€™t be against trading pick 21 for Lobb if thatā€™s what it took Getting the deal done.
Probably starts getting pretty hard for Freo to turn down to be honest

So what you're saying no genuine reporter has confirmed it is a front ended contract

I haven't gone searching for it.

The fact of the matter is that we aren't handing him over unless the price is right.
Based on what we have heard so far i don't see how the price is going to be right.

We obviously think we are in a window to win a premiership right now and think he is extremely valuable to that happening so unless we are satisfied that we have a replacement lined up i don't see how or why we could trade him for a draft pick that is unlikely to contribute immediately.

If the price is too good for us to refuse, we might just do the deal.

However, even uncontracted next year he still has to be traded unless he goes to the draft. So let's assume your best offer now is a 2nd rounder, can we get a 3rd rounder for him uncontracted next year? Most likely, so his value is unlikely to decrease enough in a year to scare us off of holding him.

So after all this we can safely assume his contract isn't front loaded at all hence takes some gloss off his value

There's a lot of confirmation bias going both direction on that one. There's no safe assumption here.

Here is one from this year and last year both suggesting he is on 700-750k

I can save you the trouble. Itā€™s already been established that the front loaded story came from one Freo Bigfooty poster.

Mark Duffield over here did on his podcast, but the bloke has just taken a voluntary redundancy with the West Australian.

I don't think you empathise with how annoying the wider media can be about Freo - I mean there was a dude on the radio Tim Gossage (West Coast supporter) that told our list manager live on air that there's no chance Lobb will be at Freo next season??

We already don't get a fair crack here in the WA media, let alone from Victoria.

Fremantle is in this weird place where they're not shit enough to draw the ire of the media (aka North), but never successful enough to get whacked by tall poppy syndrome, so in a sense, we fly under the radar a bit from the media from most angles.

Correct Jon Ralph and Cal Twoomey have both said its between 700-750k took me the same amount of time on google as it should've taken Essendon not to hire their CEO

Surely Freo are serious when they say they won't trade Lobb. Marking forwards are what they are lacking: Taberner injury-prone and inconsistent, Fyfe a better midfielder, Amiss still raw (but will be good), Treacy and Sturt unproven at the level, Corbett no more than a support act, Logue out the door (and he wasn't a forward anyway). I'd be holding Lobb to the contract while Amiss develops.

What Tim Gossage doesnā€™t understand is Lobb is contracted so he really doesnā€™t have a choice if a trade canā€™t get done

LOL.

If the West were any more Freocentric theyā€™d rename the paper The Freo. 90% Of the sports media is a Freo based nowadays

I suspect this is going to last until Jackson and Corbett get over the line for Freo, then they can justify trading Lobb for pick 30 since he's no longer needed structurally.

Iā€™d be the same, especially if we get a couple of picks for Dunkley.
Itā€™s way overs though, but I think Lobb would fill a great need for us, and also gives us plenty of versatility to do other things on match days.

Lobb being contracted and needed does mean Freo might get overs this year.
Next year though heā€™s worth next to nothing, heā€™ll be an uncontracted 31 year old.

Freo are playing hardball because he is a contracted player, whoā€™s more valuable to them this year than what a draft pick might be. Not because heā€™s some star whoā€™s worth a fortune in all circumstances.

Jackson is not a forward. He'll be primarily ruck/mid. Corbett is 190cm, and will play the Logue role in the forward line.

Lobb will still be our main focal point with both those guys in. Pick 30 won't do it.

It actually came from the WA journo who has the most connections to fremantle.

A google search will also tell you that we held Rory after he requested a trade last year when in reality GWS never actually made an offer.

If Rory leaves, we canā€™t hand our future 1st to Melbourne. Too big a risk for us to plummet outside the 8.

Mundy, Acres, Logue, Lobb, Tucker +/- Meek is too much depth / talent to lose in an off-season and maintain position.

I think we hold Lobb if use a future first to get Jackson.

If we can hold our future first, use pick 13 plus extras to get Jackson. Weā€™ll need to be creative to get that through. Then I think weā€™ll let Lobb go.
