What are you talking about? It was a goal.

"I think it was touched, but would like a review to make sure"

Travelled further than Dusty's torp.

May be thinking of different ones? Dubious kick went through. close to two sets of hands and it was paid a behind, Bombers kicked it out as soon as they could. Only way that gets reviewed was if the goal ump gives a goal or asks for a review. He said behind. play on. Again, we may be thinking of different ones.

Essendon were always going to be massively pumped up for this one, and wanting the win more. Our skills were sloppy, can't believe how many marked were dropped and balls fumbled under no pressure, and missed shots for goal that would be kicked 8/10 times. Mitchell will be huge for us and JOM looked rusty and tentative but we know what he can do. Smith was solid and Langford busted his gut but was let down by kicking again. Thought Stratton was great tonight. No need to panic at this stage folks. Bombers just won their GF and we have plenty to work on.
But do we truly know what Jaeger can do?

Very worried about defence and wings

Hartung was pathetic

Back 6 were generally terrible.

Tom, Henderson, Sicily and Isaac can hold heads high

Roughy is a champ

Langford and Duryea ...see ya

JOM was a bit scratchy but saw great signs

How f***en slow were we?
Sicily? He was awful. And I thought Hartung did alright.

Gunston is not a wingman he is a 50-60 goal per year forward.
Play Gunston on the wing, bomb it long to Poppy vs two opposition KPDs. Clarko is original, I'll give him that. :drunk:

I'm tired of this. If one of your best players transgresses club rules then fine him. Don't leave him out of an important game. I don't care what message it sends, all it does is weaken the team, help the opposition, and hurt the supporters.
absolutely... Hodgey is no 18 year old kid with a lot to learn.. He is one of our greats...........sheesh

It will take time to rebuild however we will do it quicker than most organisations. Don't look top four, and haven't looked it since losing to Melbourne late last season.

We will find the right mix eventually. Disappointing to lose however better to know now who is up for it and who isn't. Opportunities beckon for many.

Last year was our last genuine attempt at glory. Now the 2009-2012 grind begins. The process can be just as enjoyable.

Some comfort:

Essendon - **** all since 2000
Carlton - **** all since 1995
Richmond - **** all since 1980
Adelaide - **** all since 1998
North - **** all since 1999
Fremantle - lol
Brisbane - 2003 long time
Port -2004 long time
Saints - long long time
Melbourne - even longer

It could be much worse. Enjoy the process and the reload.

Bombers played really well. Had a lot to prove and they rode the emotional wave home. It must be a huge release for them and their supporters to put the bans behind them and move onto a new chapter. A part of me is happy for them.

Hawks showed that they're not going to be easy beats in 2017 but struggled with the pace of Essendon's midfield and looked a bit disorganised both up forward and down back.

Those of you that want to stay sane in 2017 should probably remind yourselves that we aren't premiership favourites and are very much a team in transition. If you expect us to be the team we were between 2012-2015 you are going to have very frustrating and an emotionally draining season. Part of the cycle is the process bringing through new faces and rebuilding. When you're in that stage of the cycle you have to learn to appreciate things other than the four points.

I told myself before the season started that I wasn't going to focus on the results at all in 2017 but rather player development. I think refocussing expectations (as a supporter at least) can make following a team that isn't realistically in premiership contention much more enjoyable. Having 4 flags from the past 8 seasons in the bank helps soften the blows also.

Positive note: Roughy's goals..

I'm glad I was at the game and not listening to the comentators.

With more game time together the midfield will get better.

And please stop spoiling each other :(.
I thought i was the only one that noticed that. Spoiling each other. 4 of us go up and one of them

People are really putting this down to the umpires? I mean, yeah they were dogshit, but this mob still would've struggled to beat some VFL sides tonight.

Yes and no. Similar problem to last year where we aren't taken full advantage of when we have the momentum. We had them on toast 2 or 3 times tonight, and similar to the dogs game, we let them off with poor kicking for goal and poor turnovers when on top.

I'm thinking of the one they just replayed there, where Smithy roosted the ball from the back of the centre circle and it went through for a goal after Hurley failed to touch it.

The guy they pay to stand on the line and adjudicate these things was sure enough not to bother calling for a review, and should be sacked.

How much did O'Meara cost us? Expect big things of him. He has a high opinion of himself, he better live up to it. How can he be cooked, did he not have a full pre-season? Would rather have passed on him and kept Sammy. Oh well we did get pick number 88...

We will improve no doubt but pretty galling to lose to the drug cheats. This post match is sickening.

Umm have you been hacked or something? This is the most un-Bumps like post I've ever read from you.
