Not much in the Ryan report. He'll get bigger drink driving fines this year than the one he gets for that.

Immense of Harris to head back with the flight again to break up a Darling mark after last year.

Lots more to be unpacked but at this stage I'm just stoked and hopeful of more to come.

Going to be interesting going from the slippery and humid Gabba to perfect conditions at Marvel next week. I thought we played the conditions well but we shouldn’t have any issues kicking goals at Marvel
Just gotta look out for the beach divots at Marvel.... got acl injuries written all over it.

things I learnt
Brisbane now boasts an A grade midfield martin, Neale, berry, zorko, mccluage, lyons plus handy pinch hitters Rayner, Cameron and bailey.
Neale attracted hutchings freeing up zorko.
Lyons, berry, Neale, McCluggage are good enough that midfields don't put as much attention into containing zorko.

Brisbane has multiple avenues to goal hipwood, Rayner, McCarthy, Cameron, zorko.

Witherden is a hodge clone in defence,
rich was impressive.

Genuine goosebumps.

This is the payoff for sitting through the rebuild. Watching some of these guys debut and turn into the stars they are right now is so rewarding.

Lid off.

No, this is the foreplay for that. This team is going to get a lot better. The orgasm is yet to come.

Whilst they may not feature in the votes tonight, but I thought McStay, McInerney and Robinson were all pivotal at crucial moments and deserved special mention for their efforts.

Loved McStay's role and he seemed to gain a greater understanding of how he could impact without kicking goals than I had ever seen. Robbo was immensely impactful though. Some of his efforts are the sort of stuff you just cannot teach.

i think i'll have to do my voting tomorrow i'm at a complete loss! harris supremely confident, loved his wink..
the crab shuffle hodge was doing on ryan was just solid tactics, and his run down later on was just sweet

the midfield in and amongst the contest. what i LOVED LOVED LOVED. was the constant handballs forward, sometimes through the legs, along the ground. we kept finding space and had the trust that someone would be there to backup and it was just awesome to watch.

hippy was caught under once or twice but that was more bad delivery, mcstay though just a great first game of the season, something to build off some really inspiring efforts (to be honest it would be hard to list all the inspiring efforts the whole team were good)

now to hope we don't get over the top for next week. the eagles were very flat, and we must fight solidly..

GO THE LIONS!

And McInerney was just so clean at ground level and I liked his big Crakers Keating impersonation with a massive punch forward. To be honest, I thought his move into the ruck in the second quarter was instrumental in getting us going (taking nothing away from Stef).

The lid! Where is the lid?! I can't find the lid! It's gone miles away!
A NASA SATELLITE JUST PICKED UP A SIGNAL AS THE LID SPED INTO DEEP SPACE.

Very mature performance .

West coast were cooked in the heat but we were savage.

Everyone knows who the good players were but two things stood out foe me . We didn't have one weak player and when Mcinerny went into the middle he turned it around for us . Very underrated player who is getting better all the time , rarely beaten in the ruck.

I had to slip McStay and Bailey into my votes even though I didn’t see them as ‘best on ground’ in a traditional sense! I thought McStay worked incredibly hard all do! That spoil and tackle on Sheed were massive for us! As for Bailey, I can’t think of the last time we had run and carry like his out of our backline! The kid has some serious wheels and will only get better and better with the more time he spends down there! He did some great things!

when were we last in the top 8 at a completion of a round ?

Remember reading an article a few years back (think it was the year we played the suns round 1) saying we were 8 weeks away from taking over the Dees record of most consecutive weeks finishing outside the 8 (which I think was 88 weeks of footy in a row). If I remember correctly we haven’t been in the 8 at the end of a round since so it’s probably nearing 120 rounds of footy. We’ve broken that streak now thank goodness
