Imagine a World where there was more than one player in a side with the same surname?

Thanks, saved me the scathing reply. WTF? If they still don't get it there's this:

So you have Seamus Mitchell in your team?
Geebus, did you even look at the f**king team?

It's a f**king joke. Go back about ten posts. Then ask the same question.

Denver tested well for speed and agility IIRC, ran a sub 3 second 20m sprint which means his acceleration off the mark is good for a taller player and his agility test was 5th across all draftees.
Speed might be ok (not sure hes as fast as frost) strength not there yet.

I was revisiting the 22 last night, and tried to also do a Box Hill side ....it's bloody tough. I can't fit everyone in that I thought we'd have in the best 22. good problem to have, and our depth is building.

HFC 22 - bolded those who will be new from Round 23 2021.

FB: Hardwick Hartigan DGB
HB: Jiath Sicily Scrimshaw
C: Day Wingard Bramble
HF: Breust Lewis Gunston
FF: Brockman Kosi McEvoy
FOLL: Reeves, Worpel, T.Mitchell

Inter: Ward, Moore, Impey, O’Meara

Emergency: Frost, Jeka, Maginness, Lynch

Box Hill

FB: Morris, Frost, Serong
HB: Morrison, Howe, Phillips
C: Saunders, Shiels, Downie
HF: Long, Jeka, MacDonald
FF: S.Mitchell, Callow, Butler

FOLL: Lynch, Maginness, Newcombe

Inter: Nash, O’Hara**

** I'd imagine we try to get him a game elsewhere, before dropping him into VFL.
Nice team. I’m beginning to get ahead of myself more and more. I can’t stop now.

Go Hawks

Just an interested tiger having a crack at best 22. Probably way off but i reckon most of those who played most games last year will do so again.

FB: DG-B - Hartigan - Sicily
HB: Impey - Frost - Jiath

C: Phillips - Worpel - Day
R: McEvoy - Omeara - Mitchell.

HF: Wingard - Kozchitzke - Bruest
FF: Moore - Lewis - Gunston

Int: Shiels - Ward - Scrimshaw - Hardwick

EMG: Maginness.

Reckon the way most teams are now trying to stucture up forward three tall defenders are almost a must.Dont think DG-B has surpassed Hartigan yet but hes talented enough to throw as a third tall.

Dont know a lot about Reeves but i think McEvoy will get the gig in front of him for now.
With two young key fwds i reckon Gunstons experience will be invaluable to them. If not Gunston hawk fans are bullish about Jeka and if not him then maybe it will be the two ruckmen with McEvoy spending more time fwd and Reeves being asked to shoulder most of the ruck duties.

A lot of Hawk supporters will probably want to see more kids but imo it will be a strong mix of experience with kids getting a go around the experienced core.

I'm not 100%, but I am fairly certain Sam will make an effort to include new faces from Round 1.

We had 3 debutants last year in Round 1, and with Sam's focus being on youth and development I can see him doing similar.

That being said, he may choose to debut Ward only, but also play Newcombe and Maginnes, who are fresh faces, but wouldn't be debutants.

As stated just an interested tiger. Im all over what we do but like most oppo supporters im just a casual look in here.

One thing i will comment on is i dont think the above team is lacking in youth, and it certainly is not overflowing with vets.
17 of the 22 are aged 18 thru 28. 9 of those 17 are aged 22 and under With just five 30 yr olds. I think people underestimate just how important the vets are, not enough and all you cop is beltings especially when its a young team. I think 5 is a good balance for where your team is at in its rebuild.

Look at what Melbourne did under Mark Neeld i think they cleaned out the vets and no amount of early picks could make up for the loss of know how and plain old guidance.

The midfield set up did not work last year until Nash and Newcombe were introduced. I am pretty sure one will play in Round 1, Bramble is the other that would be an automatic first round pick on form last year. I rather doubt McEvoy will carry the ruck duties on his own. He is average at best as a tap ruckman but is very versatile around the ground whether playing loose in defence or as an extra marking forward. Reeves is developing nicely and is already rated above average in hitouts and hitouts to advantage. At 208cm he has no difficulty getting his hand to the ball.

Hardwick Frost DGB
Day Sicily CJ
?? Mitchell ??
Wingard Kosi Gunston
Moore Lewis Breust

Reeves JOM Worpel

Int: McEvoy ?? ?? ??

Hartigan misses round 1 as I don't see a North match up for him but possibly back in the side for Dixon in round 2. Lynch stiff but I think Reeves and McEvoy will get precedence round 1 as incumbents.

Big fight for the final 5 spots with Impey, Scrimshaw, Bramble, Ward, McDonald, Finn, Nash, Newcombe, Phillips, Shiels, Morrison and Brockman all in the mix

Gun to my head I have Scrim and Bramble on wings with Brockman, Nash and Finn on bench

Dixon won't be playing round 2 , he looks like missing at least the first month of the season.

North have Larkey, CCJ and possibly Comben as talls to man up, plus Goldstien when he rests.

Hartigan will be playing.

Not seeing Brockman in many teams, yet he seemed a fixture of the side when fit (perhaps he only played because we had 5-6 others out?).

I reckon we'll want more than just Broooost as a small forward. I could see us trying JO'M, Mitchell, Worpel resting forward but would rather a specialist small forward.
