Kennedy wasn't delivered the ball well at all plus when he had an opportunity Lecras gave a free away (as staged as it was). He put some good forward pressure on numerous times. I felt sorry for him at times, the delivery was poor and made him look bad, better teams will surly capitalize on that.

Bennell looked good and great replacement for... (was going to say Hill. Who has he replaced exactly?). Faster, bigger kick and seemed to want to get the footy more. However, he should have passed it off a couple of times instead of going solo... Even though it paid off. Just saying the team thing is to pass to a free player you know is free when running out of packs... If you know what I mean.

Researching the game, I really felt Rosa stuck out as one of our best. Most notably was his ability to dish off a handball to advantage while being tackled - his strength & running ability is very good. Glad we have him.

Yeo leaked a few goals, but his interception & tackling was fantastic. I'd push him into the midfield & bring in Shep to defense.

Will now probably be inaudible

Imma suggest using dB meters - i have really bad tinnitus that has been nuts since the game - what sort of sound company installs new sound then doesnt do some testing - that level and pitch was at permanent hearing damage level.

I actually really enjoyed seeing him take the game on, he played like a tiny harry o (Lemumba?) who actually knew what to do once he'd burst through the pack. I'd love to see some of our midfielders develop similar qualities. Most teams play such high pressure football these days that it almost does take a stellar individual effort to get the ball into space.

Too often we handball the ball around to guys under pressure and end up losing it. It was great to see Bennel stand up and take the game on.

That was an annoying one. Lecca was trying to get to JKs opponent who had just jumped on Kennedy after the mark, which should have been a 50

Will be interesting to see how many games Butler, Smith, Hill, Schofield get this year

The only one of them i want to see is schofield - hill is depth in case lecras/ cripps get injured - butler is depth till the end of the year then time to retire and smith can just flock right off

Looks like we've de-Melbournised (is that even a word!?!?) him. He did his time in the WAFL and I'm looking forward to seeing how he and other new kids go this season
We've de-Demonised him. Or maybe we've just demonised him? He looked pretty 'wicked and threatening' to me.
demonize
ˈdiːmənʌɪz/
verb
past tense: demonised; past participle: demonised
  1. portray as wicked and threatening

I agree Butler is depth and Smith well has been Smith but Im not completely sold on Cripps just yet-is he better than Hill atm? Cripps definitely has more upside-younger, gets more of the ball, nippy little guy but Hill probably kicks a few more goals and is a better mark....

And goes at slightly better than 50% disposal efficiency...,

Im looking at that footywire stats for 2013- Hill it says-66.7 and Cripps-57.3. 65% seems to be a good mark for forwards, pun intended.
They are light years apart in delivery by foot. Hill actually averaged more contested possessions than uncontested, cripps was heavily waited to uncontested, and still has a far lower DE

There is no way you can describe Cripps game as being heavily weighted towards uncontested possession. 40% is a much more healthy percentage than 54%. Especially considering Hills distaste for a physical contest. In fact Hill looks and plays better when he's up the ground in space.

Cripps is simply a much more dynamic ground level player who can operate in tighter spaces. He's a better tackler, better clearance player and a whole lot younger. There is no way Cripps gets replaced by Hill on preseason form.

That's cool bro but stats say otherwise. Last year hill had 52% contested, 48% uncontested, cripps was at 41% contested, 59% uncontested.

In the context of the discussion of Hill also having a far better DE I think it's fair to say he's a far far better user of the ball. Long term it may have value playing Cripps with his upside (if he can sort out his DE) but in the short term our forwards would be far better of receiving the ball from Hill.
