Cunningham only got 67?

He was a beast at the game. I thought he clearly went higher than that
To be fair to the Carlton board, he was exactly as they advertised - has periods of judd-like performance but disappears otherwise

I was regretting not going with him at half time, but relaxed by full time.....now if only I hadn't moved off Newman - I am now a vote for ditching the JLT games....

4/397.

Newman an enormous surprise.
Thats the thing isnt it. Is he such a shock ?
Some are just natural scorers. He has always looked that way. His 2017 debut rook scores a bit of a clue.... 73, 105, 80, 59, 151, 93, 72, 89, 104, 90, 88.....it was about as good as we hope for. Were also clues he can go big.
Horse just wouldnt give him a proper run or let him settle last year. Not the first guy Horse has potentially screwed over. Was a fan favorite up here and gets involved, makes big metres, with a big hoof.
He's right in his prime at 26. Targetted for HBF with Docherty out. Was in a lot more teams a month ago but for some reason thousands went off him as he got no talk whilst other options were discussed. Plenty took a punt on him though for a 90-95 avge def. He isnt totally out of the box and might even be a regular SC by next year.

Wait till he gets a 65 next week. Oh shit. Do you or dont you with him playing Sydney in Rnd 3 ? I reckon most will pass unless he gets 90+ due to awkward price.

So what are we thinking par will be this week? 2400?
2150-2200 is normally par in the first round. People forced to play lots of rookies on the field.

Edit: Last year looked like one out of the box. My round 1 scores last five years:
2014: 2186
2015: 1994
2016: 2287
2017: 2132
2018: 2418

2418 had me just outside the top 1000 after the first week. However, the 2132 in 2017 ranked me at 44k, yet I finished higher overall in 2017 than I did last year.

Good point.
For me i just thought that Sydney's defence which has always been rock solid with AA calibre players allowed him to be more unaccountable.

I figured Carlton would be under a lot more pressure, he wouldn't be allowed to get away with running off his man, as Simpson already does that as well.

But maybe with more ball going back he'll get more involved...?

He was never really an unaccountable type. Main problem he faced with us is that we had far too many HBFer types at once, and he could break in but never be assured of a slot. Even McVeigh (who would still walk into any HBF in the game) has surprised by getting fit again. Lloyd, Mills, Jones, Heeney, McVeigh Cunningham, and also Florent were all getting rotated around HBF the last cpl of seasons. Noone blamed him for seeking out gametime. He's actually a pretty decent one on one defender which helps the scoring too.
You might be right about a lot more ball being in Carlton's backline to help his scoring. Docherty benefitted from that no doubt.

He was struggling just to get a game for Sydney last year with guys like Lloyd and McVeigh being preferred to play his type of rebounding defender role.

Going to Carlton he is going to be getting a lot more game time especially with Docherty out and the ball is going to be down his way a lot too.

Surprised more people didn't pick him at his price, if he can keep up that sort of form he will be a bargain, a premo defender for under 400k.
