We missed the finals by 2 wins and 6%. Considering he kicked 21 goals in the first half of the year and 14 goals in the second half of the year as well as 3 of those final 11 games we lost by 7 points or less, I would argue 7 extra goals from Casboult could have made the difference in terms of our finals aspirations. We were a lot closer to playing finals last year than some people would like to admit.

The team won 4 of the last 9 games.

They choked.

It ain’t on Casboult

Probably a reflection of who his opponent is more than anything. They make sure he isn't on the big marking forward. He is slowly getting bigger and stronger each year though and he will continue to develop his game. That stat reads well for Collins as he generally does get the bigger stronger opponents.
Yeah Ballard was 22 for the whole of his season last year (injured in round 19 on his 23rd birthday)
Always been a lanky kid, will continue building into his body.

Darcy Moore was a failed forward from his age 19 - 21 season
Switched to defence halfway through his age 22 season (only played 7 games)
Broke out in his age 23 season as a defender.

Agree, we were closer to finals more than most people believe. 2W 5L was far from ideal start but we should never have lost to Collingwood at home. That was heart breaker, season defining loss. Hawks in Tas was another one. We were parked in our forward half all time in the last quarter but just could not score in windy conditions, some terrible misses from Chol, Luko. We played great game against Lions, were ahead at 3/4 time then Ballard went down and we faded. Close loss to Port was another great game with an unlucky outcome.

But we were extremely lucky against Tigers.
3-4 unlucky losses vs 1 lucky win against the Tigers just shows once again how close we were. If we split those close games then we're extremely close to a finals berth. We had some strange results in the first half of the year as well with the GWS loss that should have never happened, the Collingwood loss at the MCG that felt really winnable going in and even the Western Bulldogs game in Ballarat felt like a weird one.

Not trying to pin it on Casboult but it's undeniable that his goal kicking went from kicking 21.15 in the first half of the year to 14.7 in the second half of the year. So what does that tell us? Was the supply from the midfield not there? Did Casboult drop off? Did Chol take goals away from Levi? I'd like to see our i50 difference from the first half of the year to the second half of the year but I can't seem to find it...

Powell back into full training yet?

Do you play all 5 talls Witts, King, Chol, Lukosius, Casboult? Or is Jeffrey replacing Casboult here?

The consensus is Jeffrey>Casboult.

Surely we do that, Levi is a great player but for team balance. Jeffrey is locked in

While Ballard may not be an A grader, be brings stability to the backline and is a real leader down there despite his laid back nature.

The defence wen to s*it when he went down last year. He sets us up so well at centre half-back when we get the ball forward and positions himself beautifully to impact the play and intercept should we turn it over. He SHOULD also allow Collins to play his own role and worry about his own game.

The big question mark in the line-up for me is Rosas. Without him the opposition will be licking their lips thinking about all the third-man ups they can intercept because we have no one dangerous to worry about when the ball hits the ground. The Rankine loss is going to hurt definitely.

I agree with everything except Chucky not an A grader
IMO he is

2 weeks already.
So it's just going to come down to whether Dewy is willing to roll the dice? I feel it's worth the risk considering Weller is expected back a week or two later and the fact that we really, really don't want another slow start to the season like last year.

No risk considering bad injuries they are coming from. The club want both Weller and Powell go distance once they are back according to Dew. AFL round 3-4 is my guess, 1-2 VFL first.

Jake Stringer and Caldwell injured and won't play round 1.
Hoping there out for our round 2 match as well.
Stringer torched us last year

Yeah as much as I really want them back in I doubt it will be rd1. I think ideally they play atleast a half in the reserves first.

Thoughts on Tom Berry and his job security standings (yes SuperCoach related thanks gang)
There's a chance he starts in the AFL side as Rosas coming back from an injury of some description? But think it's less likely he plays more than 10 games for the year.
Would say he averaged <50 even if playing, a definite pass.

Humphrey gets stitches out Monday and isn't likely to be ready Rd 1 but should be fine by Rd 2. Asked about 2 players he thinks are very underrated and his reply was ballard and rosas, two players keen to see have a big season.
Will Rosas be available for round 1?

Yeah it was terrible, felt sorry for bailey to have to sit through that interview. Only listened in to find out what the go was with his foot. Didn't say how he cut himself just he's getting stitches out Monday.
