Windhager <---> Higgins

Steele <---> Brynes

If Butler is ready is ready it makes it more complicated.

Sharman stays unless we're playing short people.

Will they look at Geary?

I'm very sure they'll give Clark more time in 2's.

Anyone else get super nervous when Dougal Howard goes near the ball? He's honestly a liability, Hawkins destroyed him - would love to see Joyce given a go in that role!
Howard is a Jett,

i would be worried if he wasn't n our backline, this seems like a knee jerk reaction kind of comment, i suggest watching the game again and seeing where Hawkins really got his goals.

Except for the fact that Owens is the worst kick on St Kilda's list by a long way. IMO it comes down to replacing Steele'ves phsyical pressure ie tackling. Thereofre Owne may get the nod but I am not sold on him yet.
This is such a myth. His kicking is fine. Just has an unusual action. Myth has spread on here since pre-draft based on a few highlight videos.

Just from the highlights.

Tom Hawkins first goal.
Battle is trying to take the mark. Hawkins pushes ( looks a lot like in the back ) Howard into Battle, and takes the grab as it slips through Battles fingers.

Hawkins bumped him out of the way ( and tried to trip him ) for Guthrie's goal.

Q3 ,Howard reacted quicker and was able to get in front of Hawkins. Howard was trying to prevent Hawkins getting to the ball drop, he should have tried a different tactic, Hawkins was easily able to push him forward.

Q4 , he was a bit late , and too far behind.
4th quarter was wilkie

We’re witnessing the beginning of a st Kilda myth. Like Jack Billings soft and seb Ross slow. Repeated long enough it’ll pop up every single thread 50x until it’s truth

Ripper season so far lads, from a keeper league POV when are you guys expecting Hunter Clark back?
One or two more games in the VFL at least.

Edit: Sorry, I'm the third person to reply with this. I've got him in my keeper league too and am keen to get him back.

He's not a great kick but not a horrible kick either. That game in the VFL where he got ridiculous amounts of ball saw quite a few turn overs but for a guy who's played a handful of games at any senior level it's hardly time to call him a bad kick. I'd rather have someone with the endeavour to find the ball myself. Fyfe, early Petracca, Danger etc are all messy kicks.Hasn't held them back because they just contest so well. Even Dunny showed that you can clean it up over time.

Most people on here would have watched VFL games I'd imagine

It's definitely a weakness of his IMO

It is often also the case for many inside bulls though. Hopefully his strength will outweigh his weaknesses

One thing he has going for him is he gets penetration in his kick. Much like a Dangerfield, if he can break out of a stoppage and get the ball long he's going to be pretty dangerous.

But I wouldn't want him trying to pin point passes in the back half that's for sure

I’d agree it’s a weakness right now but “worst kick on our team” must be hyperbole

Adelaide haven't cracked the 70 point barrier in a month and were touched up by gws.

Think they will need to kick about 90 to get close which I think would be a big ask. We have decent firepower (when we actually kick straight) and they have the fourth worst defense by points conceded,we have the fifth best.

No excuses for this game if we are legit

We beat the Cats after halftime when Steele was playing with basically one arm and Higgins our leading small forward ruled out , so if we can steam roll the Cats in the 3rd the way we did without the 2 guys I've mentioned injuried there is no reason it will derail our season.
In saying that we all know Steele is not really replaceable and Higgins goal sense around goal will be badly missed, but we now have depth and it should give us the talent required to win.

We might get Hunter Clark and Butler back in the coming weeks so it should help strengthen our best 22.

But the team will have to knuckle down and take it a game at a time , because no team is a push over and we also have to start putting 4 quarters together.

Crows will be looking to win on there home deck so we will need to bring the effort.

Crouch has had maybe 4 games like that in his career.
I wouldn't want to be relying on him to do it every game.

After missing the entire 2018 season with a groin injury, Crouch went on to become one of seven Crows to play all 22 games in 2019. He averaged 30 disposals a game and won the Malcolm Blight Medal as the Crows' best and fairest. Crouch received a season-high 18 of a possible 20 medal votes in Adelaide’s win over Richmond in Round 13, collecting a career-high 43 disposals, 11 clearances, six inside-50s and four rebound-50s. Crouch averaged a career-best 30.2 disposals (ranked eighth across the AFL home and away season) and finished second at the Club for clearances and tackles with totals of 117 and 111. The midfielder also made 86 inside-50s - the most of any Crow that season - to go with 11 goals.

Its like a lot of things on here , people grab something and run with it and all of a sudden its fact

Would love to see Owens come in for this game. Wasn’t ready round one but I reckon he can do a bit of damage to the crow on the inside
I'm torn between Mitch and Bytel but I'd like to see him play against the Crows and Norff to get him a taste of winning then bring in Bytel for Brisbane and see how it goes from there. Both of them need a run.

Yeah the burst is very champion like. He breaks away with real power and the ball trapping seems very good like he hits it hard without fumbling. Windy and Owens look like two potentially excellent players and with Nas too we have three that are going to be a pleasure to watch grow into their careers.

That's nice.
He had 18 contested possessions yesterday, that's Petracca territory.
He averaged 11 in 2019.

Like everyone who thinks that Windhager, who i agree had an excellent game, can step in for Steele despite not excelling in tackles, contested ball or clearances.

No Petracca's career average for contested possessions is 11.06
