Are the supporters that are writing Paddy off the same supporters calling Billings a draft bust 9 weeks ago?
The club and DMac like half back better so I suggest he stays there. Sav will give us drive from the wing.
With Dunstan out it opens up more inside mid time for Acres/Steele/Steven.
While I'm not a huge Minchington fan we desperately needed a small forward to come back into the side.
Not sure too many called him a bust, the general consensus was that he needed to lift & start showing a lot more consistency to justify the pick 3 tag.

This is now the Jack Billings I knew he would be (and can still get better) & am loving the consistency

As for Paddy. For mine, he just needs a decent crack at it with some continuity. As I said on twitter this week: He's played 20 games & been forced off injured (not to return to the field) in 5 of them all before half time - 4 concussions & 1 broken collarbone. That's so pretty awf luck for the kid. I'm backing him in all the way

And if anyone Bronx cheers him when I'm within earshot, you'll be copping a ****ing spray. Pathetic when our own supporters behave like that

I'm pumped to see how this two-pronged forward line goes. Tim and Paddy represent the future of our forward setup (along with an out of form Bruce). Great to see Richo finally try a different setup. Feel like it was about a season ago that we didn't go in with the 3 key targets.

Also I really bloody hope Weller is fit!

Bold changes overall, good to see!!!

excited to see how this goes. Richo showing confidence, up to the boys now

on a different note, if that wasn't the briefest selection insider I've ever watched then I mustn't have a very good memory. Hammers sprinted through that one

Very emotive. People need to understand the difference between having an opinion that a plyer isn't at his best and calling him a bust. And I certainly haven't read many writing Paddy off. He needs to play better. Richo would think the same. I'm sure you do as Marge.

Gee whiz Minch gets given a lot of games that his form doesn't necessarily warrant. 9 touches 3 behinds against Carlton gets him dropped, doesn't play VFL last week, and then gets back in?

DMac a bit lucky as well as he was dreadful in the first half last week, however he did improve a bit in the second half and I don't really like seeing young players get dropped after one game anyway.

Not sure about Paddy leading the forward line at this stage especially with all the pressure on him at the moment as it is, hopefully he rises to the occasion. A bag from Membrey would be much appreciated.

Happy to see Savage back in after our dreadful butchering of the footy last week, hopefully he pushes Joey out of the back line as he is a near liability defensively at times.

No reason why we can't win this, Dogs have been average this year whenever I've watched them. Both teams are 5-4 and have just about identical percentage so it should be a close one. Tipping Saints by 12 but not super confident.

He's the same height as me, with a worse jump (I am good at jumping). That's not big for a forward.
Membrey has got a great leap IMO and it gets him a lot of marks, jumps straight up in the air off two feet and marks the ball at it's highest point.

Love the changes.

Dunstan out means Stevens plays more inside mid. That's an upgrade.

Roo out, Minch in, is a quicker, more agile fwd line. Also gives Paddy the opportunity to lead the fwd line. Plenty of ball will go thru him.

Expecting Billings to play deeper fwd, rove off Paddy & kick a bag.

Saints by 18.

Agree on Minch he is the underperformer in that team now. Not sure I get all the posts saying we need him in the forward line.

Minch is a very defensive forward and creates turn overs, so does Lonie but he's very light so doesn't tackle as a hard. Wright is the other player who is in competition for that role and he's injured. Minch was an emergency last week I think so didn't play either and should come in fresh and fired up. I think the team is much better balanced with him in. Sav a good in as well.

Who has been performing better than him that plays the same role?
That's a fair call, personally I would prefer another look at Lonie but I know that's not a popular opinion on here and his last two weeks in the VFL have been a bit quieter. Probably think Wright deserves a crack ahead of Minch as well after his GWS game but the concussion last weekend in the VFL might've put a line through him getting the call up.

Just not at all convinced by Minch as he goes missing far too often, and don't like that he gets dropped for a poor game and then comes back in without earning his spot back via VFL form. Regardless I hope he goes well and helps us get the W.

Massive game for Longer. Needs to bring his physicality to this one and play a Mummy role. Smash into English and make it hard for him so he doesn't hurt him around the ground.

Hopefully smaller forward line will make us hit the short targets and not bomb. Paddy is a way better forward on the lead as well.

Not sure it was all directed at Paddy, maybe some at the team for actually hitting up a lead for a change.

Just on Paddy, some not keen on him leading the forward line, I say throw him in, back him to the tilt, Paddy has to find a way to get into the game, he has to find a way to get himself in positions to mark the ball and beat AFL quality defenders.

VFL is a completely different game for a FF, we know he can mark it.

Daniher, Hogan, Patton you name them, even Tom ****ing Boyd, they've been given the game time, had absolute stinkers and still been backed in to do better. Paddy has to figure it out and our side needs to figure out how to use Paddy, the sooner all that happens then Bruce's and Membrey's roles change for the better

I pretty much agree. If Wright hadn't been concussed then he'd probably be my preferred option. But at the same time, if a player has been deemed good enough to be an emergency then it's pretty much saying he's next in (even if he doesn't play VFL that week and assuming they train well).

Flying up from Adelaide for this game and reckon it will be a cracker!

Don't mind the changes at all. We bring in 2 players that don't butcher the ball and have some decent pace which was the key ingredient against the swans.

Team needs to lower there eyes and hit Paddy on the lead because the kid will be a match winner for us.

Bookmark it. Paddy to kick 5

I wish Paddy the best, I really do. Easton Wood though is just about my favourite player in the league at the moment. Love watching him play, but hope he doesn't shred us this week. I definitely came to like the Doggies a bit too much during that last finals series. Have to get over it at least for this weekend. Come on Saints!!!!
