Although I can understand why people were disappointed about the Lions loss, this game against the Bulldogs is the type of game we should be winning when you consider how far along we are in our list build. The Lions are quite possibly the best team in the league, certainly top 3, and it was always going to take a monumental effort to get the better of them over four quarters. The Bulldogs are more in line with where we should be in the 6-10 region of the ladder and you've got to win games like these if you want to play finals because they are 8-point swings. In fact, the Crows game the following week is exactly the same so the next fortnight is massive for us if we want to have a shot at playing finals this year.

Win both or it’s season over for mine.

Praying for some of last years Darwin magic, although last year it was north and hawthorn so the task is significantly larger!

Although it was a down game for many, I can’t see Dew swinging the axe. Will just back them to improve.

OUT: Lemmens, Day
IN: Long, Jeffrey, Ace (sub)

I would personally bring Jeffrey in to the backline for Lemmens and Sexton for Day, but can’t see Dew doing that.

Need Rowell, Anderson, Ainsworth, Luko, etc. to stand up after quiet ones last night.

NEED to win this.

And Weller if the knee swelling gods permit.

But Jeffrey & Long a must for the NT games.

And it’s 6th v 13th. They are a top 8 team for a reason. Going to need a lot to go right, and that starts with Dew’s team selection.

Although by the reaction at the time and knee jerk re-signing of Dew you'd think it was Melbourne and Brisbane
Adelaide and Izak won't be shedding any tears about playing in Darwin over Heritage

We matched up well against them last year at the shithole in Ballarat. Not sure we will have the same luxury this time around. We always struggle against fast ball moving teams, as we are never able to punish them on turnover due to the lack of footskills out of the backline.

Footscray has so much rotation power through its mids
And Bont
Starting to miss Touk big time
By the time he's back and fit and firing we'll be talking about 2024
And I promise you none of next years OOCs will be re-signing over Summer and if we aren't top 4 this time next year get ready for a long year

Hopefully weller gets up for this one could really do with his run and kick through the middle. As disappointing as sharp has been I'd almost bring him in for Ellis, it would certainly be in his best interest to perform well for his next contract, wherever that may be. Would like to see Jeffery off half back also and would give some flexibility to throw him forward if need be, could almost rotate luko and Jeffery just to mix it up a bit.

Dogs do have a good midfield but we both average 140 (Suns 4th, Dogs 3rd) in contested possessions.

Our letdown is making the most out of our inside 50s, luckily Darwin's conditions suit our bomb it long and lock it in game plan.

Expecting a tight contest like Melbourne again, hopefully on the winning side.

Given the form we've been in over the last 6 weeks (not the last quarters Freo and Lions) we'd have to be a chance.
Played some good footy even though two of them were North and WC
Surely we're due

I'd take a slightly longer view on it and say Dew probably needs 3 wins in the next 4 games against the Dogs, Crows, Blues and Hawks. Winning this 1 will relieve a lot of pressure because then he just needs to find a way to either beat Adelaide or Carlton given we really should beat Hawthorn at Heritage. So this one is actually really important when you think about it.

Predicting long for lemmens and Jeffery for day. If Jeffery plays will be interesting if he's forward or back. Maybe something like..

Long Collins dmac
Powell ballard Jeffery
Ellis Anderson atkins
Ainsworth luko Humphrey
Rosas King casboult

Witts Rowell Swallow

Davies fiorini holman Andrew
Sub- Sexton

Is it possible that Dew picks Jed Anderson as the sub? Gets him to the 100 game milestone and allows the Darwin boys of Mally, Jeffrey, Long and Anderson to all play together in their hometown.

Bulldogs are heading into top 4. Right now, they are together with Lions, Melbourne, Collingwood primary candidates to win it all.

IMO, Suns chances of finals are already very small, let's say 10-20% but it will be 1% if we lose. This is the game to make a statement. We should be up and about. It should be a good game.

Long deserves Lemmens' spot he was excellent v Werribee

Berry takes Day's spot for me and Oea is the sub instead

Debate over Casboult or Chol

Casboult is a better mark rn but Chol's ground game could be more useful in Darwin

I'm happy to stick with everyone else for now

Berry showed virtually nothing against Lions (not even pressure). Out for me. Long plays according to Dew.
I expect Jeffrey plays too.

I’m optimistic for this game. While I think the dogs have played some very good footy this year, they’ve also played a lot of teams at the right time (e.g. their last month, Adelaide in Ballarat with out their best player in walker, Carlton in terrible form, Giants without their two best players Toby Greene and Sam Taylor, and the Hawks).

You could also make the argument for us and our wins too in the last month, but I think our game against a full strength Melbourne and the umps was a lot more impressive than any of the dogs wins in the last month. It being 20+ degrees and extremely slippery gives us a huge advantage too.

Changes:
Chol for Casboult, just cause it’s a big trip with a newborn and Chol is pretty good in the wet.
Flanders for Davies and giving him proper midfield time.
Jeffrey for Day, kicked 5 against the dogs last time and was good in our NT games last year.
Long for Lemmens, already confirmed
