Geary out, Brown & Carlisle still out.

Coffield & Clark both in the side as well as White, Rice, McCartin, McKenzie & co.

Great chance for the kids do take it right up to the Swans, hope we look to move the ball quickly out of defence.
Yep, hope we have a no-fear, take-the-game-on-at-all-costs type mindset and just back ourselves.

The reason is Longmire would simply make Heeney go to Billings if he was playing Half back.

Then when Sydney were coming of half back Franklin would lead up the ground and Heeney would drag
Billings to the goal square .They will do the same tactic if Savage playing off Half back too .
Or anybody that is weak defensively that is why we get killed by Sydney year in year out.

Lonie offers nothing if not played on the ball for minutes , we have the smallest number of rotations for
midfield group in the AFL this is consistent with Richo’s tenure , we fatigue opposition get on top we fall
away.
That is why when teams get on top of Stkilda for last 5 years they kick a lot of goals in a row.

Sydney love teams that play fast footy overuse by handball , they score on turnover and Stkilda are their
bunnies because we never change including bombing the ball to their extra behind the ball.

Any chance of proper spacing?

It's funny - we conceded 100 in a game three times in the first eight weeks. Recently as backline injuries in particular have accumulated, we've conceded 100 points each of the last three weeks.

In Round 1 our back six would have been Geary, Brown, Webster, Roberton, Carlisle and Savage. This week it will be Rice, Austin, Webster, White, Marshall and Savage. The extra points is understandable.

At the other end it has simply about accuracy and better quality shots at goal - we've actually had our two leanest weeks of the year in terms of scoring shots.

For comparison, in Rounds 3 & 4 we had 41 total scoring shots for 14.27.111.
Last two weeks we had 35 scoring shots for 26.9.165.

If we can improve to 22-23 scoring shots a game and get our defence back where we need it to be (with the inclusion primarily of Carlisle) then we'll almost certainly be instantly competitive. Hickey is becoming a clearance beast and winning hitouts. Jack Steven is actually well on his way to a fourth B&F. A switched-on Sinclair is A-grade.

I just want to see us back up last week. The improved performance will mean nothing at all if we put in a rubbish one this week.

Buddy danger, yes. But their young quicks are more dangerous. Heeney, Hayward, Florent I’m most concerned about.

Zac Jones inevitably plays well against us. Hickey needs to play behind Sinclair and nullify the contest up forward. He’s in great form.

Can’t see us getting close I’m afraid.

Swans by 5-6 goals.

Geary for Coffield is a given.
I'd be inclined to rest Dunstan until after the bye, give him a solid month to get that shoulder right. The last thing we need is the big bodied Swans to mangle his shoulder and set him back longer.
Bruce must be close. I wonder if he'll have a run for Sandy first.
Battle too, not sure anyone else will be omitted though.

I fear for this game.
Even though the previous two games haven't turned out as badly as we thought they would in terms of blowout margins, Sydney always seem to thump us and I can't see this one being any different.

It would be such a shame, considering we appear to be re discovering a little bit of our mojo and confidence.

They have given us some awful beltings since 2013...….we were extremely lucky that they couldn't kick straight last time we played them...they had 17 more scoring shots.

I've been waiting very patiently for the day we finally get one back.

Gresh is struggling with a groin issue so maybe managed this week .
I think Geary , gresham and Lonie out .
Ins ...Paton , Battle and Coffy

He couldn’t have injured his groin he hasn’t even spent any time in the ruck?

Assuming Gresh comes up I’d be going with Coff & Dunstan for Gears & Lonie.

Wouldn’t change too much - Coff gets gears minutes and a bit of time on the wing or in the guts if needed

Dunstan to play Mid and a bit fwd

Can’t wait to see what we look like down back if Austin keeps this up and Jamey comes back

Rice Austin Webster
White Jakey Savage

With Coff & Gears rotating through - liking the mix long term back there atm
