What kind of game plan is just continually kicking to a contest most times Werribee is easily winning the ball back.

Whereas Werribee they use foot skills and good decision-making to control the ball.

Not a great game by us, Werribee just looked the better side. Definitely one of the in form teams atm.
They shut down our AFL listed players today, didn't allow us any time and we just looked really scrappy.
I wouldn't be reading too much into this one, just write it off as a bad game, just frustrating to watch.

Midfield depth is fuuuuuuuuuucked.
Sonsie is purely outside which is fine plenty of damaging midfielders in that category eg Daicos. Dow is our only inside mid depth and he's probably gone at years end, how the hell did we let our list get into this state? Is this the years of recruiting hbf'ers finally catching up with us?

Bad game, but Werribee are a class above. Pretty obvious to see

could not see any highlights at all. dow brown and sonsie sadly wont make it. no system in the middle at all. bridly was ok. too many guys not doing anywhere near enough. couldhardt did nothing. junior sfa. maybe banks is worth a punt.

Fringe inside mids can be plucked cheap from other clubs if need be, i don't think its too bad though. Clubs nowadays really only play with one or maybe two inside bulls, and long term ross probably transitions back inside and kaleb smith whilst drafted as a half back flanker could become a midfielder somewhat similar to jack crisp.

Yeah going to disagree again, although not a midfield beast he has some inside tools. Looks like he has been developing them but can get it in pack.

Awful
Where did Sonsie go from halfway through the third?
Dow yuk
Banks and Brown are good receivers, but their disposal was awful once the heat came on in the third.
Brindley, Street and Miller our best by a mile as we had a bigger passenger list than the Titanic.
Trezise and Green good considering the carnage.
Coulthard and Rioli Jr average and will improve .
Biggy Bauer and Bradtke bordered on embarrassing as KPP players on an AFL list.
Hope Morro gives it to them.

That's the problem with Banks and Brown. They are both so outside that between the two of them they couldn't pick it up and give a handball out.

Need real development in their contested ground ball skills to be successful at AFL level.

Great test for our youngsters, really need to be able to beat this quality of opponent not to be a passenger at AFL level.

Miller passed, Sonsie nearly. Bigoa shut down as he was played as tall forward rather than a medium like last week. Green attacks it nicely but ..

The rest need the season in the VFL tbh

Real disappointing day obviously. No one deserves to be called up to the firsts on the back of that outside of maybe Banks who seemed to have an impact whenever he touched the ball.

Really like Miller’s game. Just competed whenever he could. Really good below his knees and uses it well on field. Issue he has is you want him involved around the ball as much as possible, but he isn’t a first choice ruck.

Thought Brown was very good and obviously and improvement on last week; which is really all you can ask for coming back from a five month layoff. Saw someone post that he’s lazy and soft; which I didn’t see at all. Worked his way up and back and tried on multiple occasions to link up behind the stoppage and crashed packs defensively. Good user of the ball. Not ready for AFL games yet but think he will be an AFL quality player for sure.

Sonsie was good in space but doesn’t work hard enough to a) get into space and b) defend. Some defensive efforts were good but then didn’t back them up.

Biggy just had little impact. He’s great in the ruck when he can run and jump but if not he seems to just tap it with no direction, did okay around the ground but had a chance to stamp his papers as next guy up but didn’t.

Tresize, was solid. Some poor disposal moments and didn’t get involved enough offensively as he needed to.

Bauer was very poor. Just couldn’t get into the game either as a back or a forward. To be fair our I50 use was shocking, but still you expect a lot more.

Bradtke looked better in the second half and started to be more imposing. But needs to do it for four quarters not one. That’s two weeks in a row where he’s best makes us look like a different side.

Coulthard and MRJ - ran and chased but just weren’t clean. Werribee have them no room to run and create. Considering a spot in the forward line is open if Mansell gets suspended; I expected more. Understandable though considering first game back for MRJ and second game overall for Coulthard.

Green - think we are at the stage where we know what we are going to get. Ultra competitive; thought he used the ball very well. Game seems to slow down for him more. 0.3 indicates another game he could have broken open but didn’t.

Dow - just know what you’re going to get with Dow which is a solid if not underwhelming performance. If we had a number one ruck (Soldo), think Dow would have had more impact; but just some very poor decisions and execution inside the contest which probably means we won’t ever see him in the best 22 again.

Werribee are clearly the better team. Structurally the dominated the game which doesn’t help; but you’d expect of our 12 AFL listed players that more than maybe three or four players would win their match-up.

We still have Hopper to come back and Ross is played on a wing. So with Dow as well, its not too bad. Only Cotchin will retire of players in that category. Prob need to draft one more soon. But we arent a side that plays many inside mids, so recruiting Hopper and Taranto will make it difficult for anyone else to get in there for a long time.
