LMAO @ everyone writing off & bagging the one player who's actually stood up in an AFL final and was clearly in the bests for 3 quarters. Never change Big Foolery, never change.:thumbsu:
That’s why our senior list is middle of the road mate bc there hasn’t been quality players coming through to eradicate these players that have lost form or aged in the seniors. Your list is only as good as your depth coming through and challenging these blokes otherwise you become a basket case.

Yeah going to disagree again, although not a midfield beast he has some inside tools. Looks like he has been developing them but can get it in pack.
Doesn't put his head over it and skirts the outside of the pack constantly on the hop looking to be an outlet. He's a receiver and that's fine, you need those players. I haven't seen any of the signs you're alluding to of him being that inside/outside hybrid player we'd hoped he'd be. He might get the odd clearance but so would Balta if we threw him in there.

If you can be close to BOG up until half-time in your first final in your first year and 6th game at the age of 18 after holding your spot in a late season finals charge chances are you can play the game. It's not like some Dean Polo flash-in-the-pan fluke effort. A touch of second year blues exacerbated by injury hasn't changed that IMO.

Werribee have some good contested ball players. Thought our midfield looked really outsized and outside compared to theirs

Really disappointed in Biggie today, didn’t use his athleticism, didn’t get to enough marking contests. He Should have a look at how Brindley goes about using his leap and athleticism it in the air.

Of our AFL players can only see Miller ( solid game) coming in for Young.

Banks looked good on his wing, Brown is a beautiful kick and Trezise had his moments but not as good as previous weeks.

Sonsie very good 2Q but meh otherwise.

Junior better for the run, Coulthard needs space to work in, small ground doesn’t suit him.

Bauer and Bradtke gave nothing today.

Jesus I hope MRj can lift his game, seems allergic to the Sherrin but can provide so much chaos with his defensive efforts.

Sonsie looked better today as did banks hit defensive work from both was average.

Brown is another one you’d love to see get the ball more, can kick it a long way.

That’s got to be one of the dumbest things I’ve read on Big Foolery as you called it. Go and have a look at all the players that have come in the top three in the Rookies of the Year in the last forty years and see the names that have dropped off. You’re only as good as your current form and ask Woewodin , Castagna Daisy etc etc what happened to them even after a few good seasons. Players that get gifted games on previous history rarely get better and become list cloggers.

We have so many issues underneath it’s not funny.

I’ve been critical on our recruiting and I have no reason to keep doubting it.

Other than maybe Banks and maybe Miller - no one else deserves to be mentioned in possible discussion for seniors. Which is a major issue.

I refer to Collingwood who have so much depth underneath. Watched part of their VFL and so many talented kids underneath. We are miles off it.

Awful
Where did Sonsie go from halfway through the third?
Dow yuk
Banks and Brown are good receivers, but their disposal was awful once the heat came on in the third.
Brindley, Street and Miller our best by a mile as we had a bigger passenger list than the Titanic.
Trezise and Green good considering the carnage.
Coulthard and Rioli Jr average and will improve .
Biggy Bauer and Bradtke bordered on embarrassing as KPP players on an AFL list.
Hope Morro gives it to them.
About time we stop with this Biggie talk, won't make it.... he's our Magic Daw....

MRJ was first game back after a bit of time off. What did people expect really? Expect him to improve next week.

If Mansell does get suspended, who's the most ready of Green, MRJ or Coulthard? I'd say based on having seen the level before and we know he will at minimum bring defensive heat, probably MRJ plays next week.

Midfield depth is fuuuuuuuuuucked.
Sonsie is purely outside which is fine plenty of damaging midfielders in that category eg Daicos. Dow is our only inside mid depth and he's probably gone at years end, how the hell did we let our list get into this state? Is this the years of recruiting hbf'ers finally catching up with us?

Key forward depth is much worse than midfield

But you're right. Both problems areas because the club is obsessed with recruiting hbfers/wingers who have no idea how to win the contest. You turn good mids into flankers at AFL level not the other way around.

If they aren't big ball winners at junior level they should not even be looked at let alone drafted.

Our recruitment team needs to be cleaned out top to bottom. Huge problems in that team

I agree.

We need to go and get the best recruiter out there to turn this around. Clarke has shown he isn’t up to it no matter what some say on here.

To have KPP and mids so dearth of talent is inexcusable.

As we can’t draft I suggest we plug and target kids who can’t get games for their clubs. Macrae from Collingwood for instance would be one I’d target.

To be fair I reckon there's plenty of clubs in the same boat re KPFs. Most I'd say would have one likely developing prospect. Ours would be Samo.
Midfielders though, I don't reckon there'd be too many with one developing balling winning mid in their seconds (soon to be none). Have a skim over the 'around the state leagues' articles on the AFL site and its plain to see most clubs have a handful of promising mids racking them up and developing nicely.
I can only assume we have it all plotted out and have verbal agreements with players to come across and fill Prestia and Dusty sized holes that are coming up in the next year or two. Big money there.
