Autopsy Round 13, 2013 - Hawthorn v Eagles

good win to hawthorn based on your productive forward line. you scored 6 straight from just 8 entries in that first quarter when you had 8 to 21 inside 50s . In hindsight that was a decisive factor. On Max Bailey, thought he competed well but Dermott Brereton on SEN gave 3 votes Roughead, 2 votes Nic Nat and 1 vote Lake. To say Nic nat played well for just one quarter is unfair. Actually it was noticable when Cox went on the ruck, hawthorn improved as a side and the eagles suffered

It's been a very weird season - some of the games we have cruised the entire match and never looked like losing. The last two weeks we just did our thing, apart from the centre clearances.

I love Breust - he just keeps setting up goals, sharing the packs and kicking them himself. Didnt notice him through the midfield tonight as much though.

Roughy is just perfect. Has played predominantly forward the last two weeks.

Bailey a great game, he's got really slick, accurate hands for a big man. Hale had a quiet game.

Hodge Gibbo, Stratton, Lake, Guerra all played rippers. Duryea still finding his groove but seems to be getting bigger jobs these days.

The fee kicks just seemed random. We got some very dodgy ones. LeCras' 'mark' that was well out of bounds was weird, as will the Gunston OOF not called.

Savage was brilliant. Needs the full game and actually got his tail up to the point of showing some Argo. More of that please.

Felt we missed what Smiith and Poppy bring to the side.

Cyril, Whitecross, Smith, Puops all to come back in the side - who misses out?

Did I hear that NicNat took his first mark for the night half way thru the last quarter? And at that point was the only player on the ground who hadn't taken a mark for the match.

Wow. That's an indictment on him on the lovefest from the commentators.

Best mates actually. I can tell you this as fact. Lewis gives away unnecessary frees? Please elaborate.

Hodge gave it to Franklin at another point in the game as well. Lazy efforts won't fly if we are to win the flag this year. Don't mind seeing that intensity. It's what we need.

You see players, like you mentioned with Hodge giving it to other players. But the manner it was done with Jordan and Bud I didn't like..from both sides. Different to intensity Imo.

Jordan can often give away unnecessary frees. Not as common these days, but back talking the umpire etc. didn't he give a 50 away tnite too?
To be honest I would be more concerned with Lewis getting stronger. Its one thing to drop weight, but losing muscle can be very risky. Extremely hard to keep strength while losing muscle. I know he had the wrist..but even if its something they want to keep (as in his thin upper body) he still has to increase his strength.

you must have missed those 10 hit out to advantages and 8 first touch clearances from Nic nat. his ruckwork was poetry in motion. the hawks ruckman only could nullify him when they tried to stop him from running and 3rd man up. anyhow enjoy your win and living in dreamland. good night

Nice, strong win tonight, loving it so far. Also good to be put through a couple of battles in the last couple of weeks, good to win tough games.

Remember all the supporters who were saying "send Roughy down back"? Where the HELL are they these days? I always thought he is best up forward and he's been proving it this season.

And Buddy couldn't buy a free kick with $100,000,000. Someone really needs to say something to the umpires association or whatever the hell they're called, hopeffully Mark Evans can say something?

Should beat the Lions next week, going for 13 against the pussies, and oh my how sweet it will be to get that 13th against them.

I thought Bailey and Hale were great after a slow first quarter

Really got in the way of Nic Nat and Cox and stopped what could have been a train wreck. Did what they had to do

One thing about the WCE rucks, they certainly get looked after by the umps extremely well. They are by far the most favoured duo for technical crappy free kicks going around. Cox has been a master at propping for free kicks for a long time, but Nicnat has come on strong under his tutelage in this regard. The contrast in their treatment compared to Franklin is amazing. Mind boggling.

No doubting his ability to jump but why, with that ability, can't he take a mark? He jumps higher than anybody who has ever played the game but to be the last of 44 players to take a mark is unbelievably bad on his behalf.

??

I'm wondering what does Buddy have to do to get a free? We already knew about getting teeth knocked out, but it's now bear hugs and beyond throughout a game? o_O

We won. I like that.

I don't like that Franklin can be man-handled continuously without any repercussion.

And it happens every ****ing week.

We all love breasts. I thought Bailey was absolutely dominated at the centre square. The number of times WC ruck taps straight down the throat of their mids.....

Great to see Roughy clunking the contested grabs....seemed to go out of his game for a few years, I read that he's lighter this year (to protect the heel) I wonder if this is a factor ....maybe it's just a confidence thing, whatever it makes a huge difference. Taking marks at both ends of the ground(Lake) is helping us.

Good to see Savage play well, I think he's definitely someone we want around the best 22, not as quick as IOmith and Hill but he's tougher and can play a bit more inside-outside than either of them. Simpkin does some good stuff and whilst the return of Rioli and Whitecross could see him out of things I reckon he'll be ahead of Ellis and some others in the pecking order.

Gunston is just a dead eyed dick.

What's this about living in dreamland. We won tonight. Iz not a dream friend.....Good night and p**s off.

The funniest bit of the night was 15 minutes in to the first quarter and Ellis is getting a rub down and getting his wrist strapped 3 quarters before he came on.

I get the laffs bro, but if it was anyone else but Ellis it's just a last minute sub for Pups who pulled up tight and we need to prep an unprepared and unready player.

Tough crowd here when you mention Ellis.

How did that end up dickhead?

It's fine to be a first quarter showpony but the game is played over 4.

What can you say? The 4 byes in a row really wrecked us. The pressure has caused us to struggle in the last 2 weeks, but we somehow just get it done with lots of average and inexperienced players.

When we get a few back, we will go nice. Real nice.

Sewell, Burgs, Hale making me sad

Wce fans are mongrels. Real drunks and pigs. Some filthy slapper hitting blokes with those blow up things...WOWEE I was expecting her to get a clip.
