Autopsy Round 13, 2023 : Hawthorn mauls Brisbane

Ran over the top of the Lions - they don't have the tank to deal with larger grounds. No way they'll make a dent in the finals on the MCG.

There were a ton of stars but I reckon Brockman is that x factor that we badly need! Everytime he goes near the ball something happens - it's like he sees the game 3-4 moves ahead of everyone else. McDonald also has a huge footy IQ, and for all of Newcombe's crash and bash he has some exquisite delivery skills into the F50.

Kosi cops a bit of grief but if he can play this way every week - provide a marking option, take heat off Lewis, compete hard and covert his opportunities - we will be a threat to most sides.

Good times indeed!

Day so much heart. Rest up over the bye and hopefully he's cherry ripe for the Gold campaigners.

Sore ribs and shoulder and to still front up like he did, flying for marks and bodylining the ball...

Hodgelike.

Glad McCluggage seems to be okay after that tackle because his head / neck got twisted pretty bad. Surprised the media has started the Sicily could have something to worry about there thing they always do.

EDIT: that train is never late

Genuinely nothing in it. Just grateful McCluggage is ok because it looked nasty.

Happy Antonio Banderas GIF

Love beating these pretenders.

Did anyone else see Brockman channelling Cyril with the mark and Buddy v Hooker running down the wing.

Nice Easter egg for the hardcore fans. Great scripting by the AFL.

I thought Scrimshaw player really well today. It wasn’t a “Scrimshaw” sort of game but his intent on winning the footy seemed to be really good today. Could he keep his spot over Frost and play that role? I certainly hope so
If he can match Frosts defensive intent then he has Frosty covered in all the other categories (disposal, game sense, contested marking, etc).

Thought Scrimmers took a pretty big step forward today, he wasn't in our best but he definetly keeps his spot for next week IMO.

Doesn't need to kick goals if he makes stuff happen like a prime Iniesta.
I don't know what that means but I like it!

I had to watch the game unfold every 15 mins or so on the phone, can't wait to watch the replay tomorrow.

It may come as a shock that we now look like a chance of winning any of the 5 games after the bye. Or it may not.

The coaches predictions of starting 'slowly' as we learned the new ways, then surprising a few teams in the back half of the season, look like they might have some truth to them.

As the kids get tired at the end of the season, things may yet slow down.

But who cares, what a great win today.
