Autopsy Round 13: Hawks v the SA 25 (Port Power)

... come draft night when we get a top 3 pick we can all give a one bird salute to everyone as we secure our next 200 game star.
Totally agree...but playing like we did last night and we are looking at a pick anywhere from 6-10....which is massive given who we could currently select.

Also, Swans tanking nicely....looking like pick 2....get Campbell for basically nothing and another player at Pick 2 :mad:

I do understand that getting earlier draft pick means getting earlier access to potential kids. But performance like last night means we can showcase to potential A grader recruit as well that yes we need to draft quality young kids but we also have enough means to challenge the flag again.

I'd rather the boys keep trying to get a win than throwing the games out.

Cannot believe what I’m hearing today that the free kick discrepancy was due to us trying to play unsociable football and it back fired - we flew the flag when our captain has an elbow rammed down his ear - which should have been a free kick to him

I cannot believe the crap I am hearing.

anyway wrapped with their endeavour and mistakes where made but made by trying to take the game on not chipping backwards, sideways etc

Just shows our stupid the media is picking up an old saying about the hawks from years ago all because we flew the flag for our captain.

Cousins shouldn't surprise anyone, no idea where this idea that he's terrible has come from. In all the games he was dropped in the senior side he was never, ever in the worst few. Has been treated really really poorly over the jouney. Hopefully he gets a decent run at games and we can convince him to stay beyond next year.

Didn't rate CJ nearly as much as the majority on here. Thought he had loads of poor moments.

CJ needs an offseason under Sammy Mitchell’s wing. You could just imagine how damaging that kid could be once he refined his skills and slows the game down in his mind. Right now he’s like a squirrel on cocaine 😂

Agree Sam will refine CJ - but I don't want too much refinery. Composure is probably the main attribute to work on.
Love his endeavour - this is what I want to see.

I don’t think people are suggesting CJ had a great game, we are looking at his potential, he has the attributes to be a player and shows glimpses which is all you can hope for in a young raw prospect. Not many raw kids come in and dominate from day dot.

Surely at times he makes you excited, he definitely has shown show “wow” moments and will make some silly errors while he’s learning.

Aside from pace what do you see his attributes as? Because even watching him play a lot for Box Hill over the last two seasons, I can't say I've seen a lot else there.

What was that viral hashtag there that lasted a couple of years? #freekickhawthorn As I recall. I’ve not seen a game this year wher I felt Port’s got a good run from this current crap mob of umpires. Yes, the count was lopsided, but watching the game I didn’t see much to comment about...For once!
Hawthorn has had an absolute dream run from umpires for so long and everyone knows it. Anyway, I’m sure Clarko will do lunch with Gil tomorrow and set him straight. Watching next week with anticipation.

Have a warning, you troll.

Post again, and it's a red.

Bye.

He’s athletic, good closing speed, defends well, put himself in good positions and can take a mark. With composure he will clean up his foot skills and decision making. I see plenty of upside.
Reminds of Harry O who if you can remember took a few years to come on and didn’t endear the Pies fans to begin with.
I like that he gets the ball and isn’t afraid to run and carry, and take the opposition on like Harry did.

The media are a useless bunch of loonies who prefer to talk rather than think. This isn't about "free kick discrepancy". A lopsided free kick tally is not the issue. The issue is for an entire half of a game, one that was up for grabs, Port Adelaide managed to not give away one single free kick. This is impossible, but as usual it seems the media is too stupid to even understand that.

2013 We average 18.1 free kicks (10th in the league)
2014 We Averaged 16.2 free kicks (13th in the league)
2015 We averaged 17.6 free kicks (12th in the league)
2016 We averaged 19.2 free kicks (7th in the league)

Whatever suits your narrative, I guess. Sure isn't being accurate.

I tend to think 6 wins and a poor % is the highest we could finish

Everyone in the run home is going to be keen to beat us
Bombers need a win
Crows will be winless if they don't beat us
Saints & Dogs are fighting for finals spots
Suns just want to win games

Looking at the ladder, there's already 11 teams with 6 wins and a reasonable %
Freo will get another win so 13th is our highest finish (and Freo's first pick will also slide back 2 spots as they are in deficit from 2019 draft so we'll be before them)
Essendon & the Suns will definitely finish above us IF they beat us

I'd think if we win 2 games we probably finish 15th (though potentially 13th or 14th if we beat Ess &/or Suns)

But we could lose all 5 games and still finish 15th if North & the Swans keep losing

Swans will finish below us I'd think as they do have a tough run home
If you want us to finish below North then cheer them on against Collingwood tomorrow night

So I'd guess we'll be most likely to finish 15th and get pick 5 if Crows lose Crouch

Folks, this is your typical Port Adelaide supporter, I've been putting up with them since the 1960s. AFL fans have only had to deal with their arrogance and stupidity since 1997. They still think they're the greatest football club in the AFL, but quite simply, they're not, and they were only able survive in the early years through generous cheques from the SANFL who to this day, still have received no return for their investment. Will love watching them fall flat on their faces once again in the finals.

I just want us to be competitive in the forthcoming matches

Don't even try to explain anything to a Port Adelaide fan, they have no capacity for logical thought.

If your going to troll at least get close to anything resembling the truth you idiot. Enjoy your club falling flat on their faces when the big boys flex their muscles in the finals. Your mob are pretenders and always will be under Kenny boy now jog on back to your irrelevant board for your irrelevant club.

Problem with Cousins is we need to move one of the rotation forward at a time if he plays and none are natural forwards.

Good point it's a juggling act, all i know for myself Cuz is comfortable in our bottom 6.

-Can we use Cousins across half back the old sammy mitch role, throwing Impey & Day on the ball? when cuz get's his rest.
-Jom should start on a wing and then go in the middle.
-Wingard is a natural Mid/fwd rotation.
-Worpel is a good one on one player if we can develop him into a fwd rotation deep fwd like Cogs,Martin. Worpel has played his best footy with Mitchell out of the side and again on the weekend with Jom out of the side. He takes a backward seat with them both in the square we don't need all 3 at once, Worpel is a good enough clearance player in his own right.
