Don’t know if I can watch this game.
Umpiring is ruining football for me.

This is the biggest issue for me right now. I don’t want to hear constant umpiring whistles, with the expectation that every new contest will be a free kick of some kind. I don’t want to hear the umpires talk. I don’t want to hear the commentators talk about rules, changes, modifications, corrections. I don’t want to see players approach contests not knowing what to do. I’m not proud of the sport. I don’t think the sport looks good right now and I’m not enjoying it much at al. I’m really sorry to say that because it’s so much a part of me and who I am.

Didn’t Dons and Baggers come back strong the game following a smashing within the last year each?
Hmm, if they did I’ve lost that memory.

Nah, Melbourne are frauds, they’re in all sorts of trouble. We will exploit their pretence.

Plus, we still have Steven May to pay back. Expecting Pies fans to give him some feral hell on Kings Birthday.😊

It was never about which "crap" kpf played.

It was about the selection of a forward who could enable Frampton to remain in defence.

All we achieved last week was taking Frampton away from his best position and then went about relying on these "crap" kpf to make an impact. The fact both then failed to do so only compounded the issue.

It was an own goal IMO.

No one expects Kreuger to be anything spectacular, I'd like to think he's a better forward option than Frampton albeit a lesser ruck, but he's still a more realistic option than Johnson to be the deputy to Cameron.

Now he just needs to get through the week without injury.
Yes I shouldn't have said crap.

What did you think of Howe's game? I thought he was fantastic. When Frampton plays back he plays the role that Howe played. Would he have played it as well as Howe did against the Dogs?

Do we need Billy back against the Dees? Or would we be better with an extra running defender? As we won't get out of defence going long down the line against them.

I won't be surprised if Frampton plays the same role again, as against the Dees we need a more competitive second ruck than Krueger. Just as we did against the Dogs midfield. And there will be outrage if we go that way again, but there will be reasons if we do go that way.

The loss yesterday may fuel their desire to win.
The loss to us last year and the retirement of Brayshaw definitely will.
I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Brayshaw did a lap of honour before the game.

Melbourne has been the most over-hyped team over the past few years.

Fact is, they only have 2 good players in Gawn and Petracca.

I’m confident our kids are good enough to beat them. All we need is 1 experienced injured forward back for the game. Hoskin-Elliott (maybe back from injury?) and Krueger competing with May should be enough to see us bank the win.

Would be great to have Maynard block him near the goal square. The guy will shiit his pants.

Maybe his brother can hold his hand in the vehicle?

It’s a Collingwood home game - so no to Brayshaw doing a lap of honour.

Plus those sorts of emotive stunts often backfire on game day.

Pies to keep the focus on the footy. Fly is a master at that.

Bad timing for us with their thrashing yesterday.
You just know that they're going to get a spray from Goodwin and come out a lot better next Monday.
We need to jump them and put them away early and they'll fold

If Melbourne need a 15 goal spanking to make them try harder they are in all sorts.

Not sure we can roll out the same midfield again. Need another big body in there. Not sure who but maybe Maynard has to go there like a Hayden Young or Ed Richards have and the likes of Dean and Markov cover for him in defence

Crisp and Nick need a hand and then Lipinski / Sullivan / McCreery can give them a chop out

The only reason Frampton could possibly play forward again this week is to be an offensive tag on Steven May. If we do it for any other reason we have completely lost our minds.

Fritsch is good, mate.

So is it possible Degoey or Mitchell are the 3rd player back leppa mentions?
Both saying round 13<in the last injury report I seen

The umpires are merely a sub-set of the AFL which appears to have a form of corporate- based attention deficit disorder

Our form has been good despite the injuries and playing all these kids has given them some important game time which will be valuable when the more experienced troops return. I expect some of them to offer more when surrounded by the bulk of our strongest team.
If we can sneak this game against the Demons and stay in touch with the Top 4 I think we can go on a good run and actually have some fresher legs if we are lucky enough to be their when the whips start cracking.

To be better in the ruck and to have more dash out of defence is why I'd do it. Dean out - Markov back into defence.

It was a Melbourne home game in Alice Springs of all places and against a side from sunny WA.

Not sure what the stats are but I feel like they've put in a few stinkers up there.

Hard to imagine they could be that bad again with the talent they have or as bad on the MCG.

I hate Essendon with a passion but the 50m penalty for handing the ball to the wrong player was ridiculous.
Not really for mine. It was a harsh penalty for a minor mistake but its paid every time it happens. La Verde needed to find out whose free it was because if you hand it to the wrong player its always been an automatic 50. Stands out more becasue of the time of the match.

Difference to Sullivans because thats basically never paid and the ump just decided to pull it out of the hat.

This is going to be a genuinely interesting game

Their biggest weakness is the one area of the ground where we are at full strength

We're so full strength down back we're even sending backs forward lol and have young backs as emergencies (TJ).

With Lever I believe still missing for one more week, the midfield is really going to need to stand up this week and we can win it even with all our outs.

Melbourne are garbage but we have to be wary of them pulling out a decent one off performance to respond to the belting they copped

Its interesting to hear but free kicks have ben paid in low numbers now for nearly 30 years. 2024 is averaging 36 a game which is one of the lowest totals ever. Back in the 70s and 80s even to the mid 90s, which a lot of people see as glory years for footy, average frees per game were way higher, sometimes 80+ a game the average some years.Think of that 20 frees a quarter, quarter after quarter for the whole year. Probably because players are allowed to to grab and tussle a lot more in the modern game without being penalised the frees that get paid are more scrutinised. But there are not a lot of frees paid and certainly not tiggy touchwood ones paid in the old days.
