I see this as 50/50. Injuries hurt & things can change quickly so no getting cocky here..

Collingwood win this and season back on track

OK serious response.

  • Cameron to at least break even with Gawn and nullify his influence
  • Billy lockdown role on Van Rooyen, someone (Maynard/Dean?) on Fritsch
  • Centre clearance - get the A team in as often as possible
  • Don't bomb the ball forward - kick it to wherever May isn't. Freddy to engage May whenever we go forward - bring the ball to ground and let the small forwards do their work. Low and fast into the forward line.
  • Keep the ball alive. Don't allow Melbourne to play kick-mark game.
  • Shoot straight lads - don't mess it up (Breaker Morant)
  • WHE will be key on our forward line - needs to take a couple of marks inside 50

Yep, agree. It's so close from 2nd place to about 11th, if other results go your way, a couple of wins can catapult you up the ladder.
I think there will be a few more twists and turns before the season is out.

Gawn usually has his way with Cameron. If Cameron can break even, it will go a long way to getting us over the line.

Your comment about both teams being a chance of sneaking into the 8 is absolutely cocky, we are the reigning premier and the best chance of knocking off Sydney this year as well, Carlton are a chance of sneaking into the 8 as well I suppose, good luck

If we can manage to somehow go even with the midfield I think we can kick a winning score even with the makeshift forward line. Midfield is where we lost it against the dogs.

Win the next 2 and go into the bye with troops returning it’s game on.

Should be a decent match, both teams with the goal of sneaking into the 8 this year.

What are your keys to win?

Sneaking into the 8? There's basically one game between 3rd and 10th at the halfway point of the season

You guys were almost bottom 4 at this point last year

Reckon it's just a tad early to be making suggestions of teams "sneaking into the 8" at the moment. Either Collingwood or Melbourne could still finish literally as high as second lol

If it wasn’t already obvious it should be after the dogs game. With Jordy, pendles and Mitchell missing, nick is our midfield.

The path to victory for melbourne is simple, stop nick. If we counter that we win. Sullivan and crisp need to play interference and keep nick in the game. I think they can and we’ll win by 3-4 goals.

Don’t underestimate the power of a 9 day break (given our pretty taxing schedule of late) and what Krueger/WHE provide in terms of structure.

We’ve been playing some pretty good footy of late, confident we get the job done easily.
As long as Kruges doesn’t break down within the first four quarters of playing this structure 😬😜

Kick straight and we win. Been a big issue for us this year and I hope it's something we've worked on over the longer break.

Can see bruzzy and McCreery playing extra minutes through the middle today for some reason
We should easily have there forwards covered and need more grunt through the centre

Our backline is stacked enough to send Bruz into the middle as a wrecking ball

Maynard's best game I've ever seen him play to this day was when he tagged Oliver for a day and absolutely gave him a bath while collecting more possessions himself

I'd be a touch disappointed not to see similar tactics deployed today

Before last week, our most recent loss was 21st March. Our season is well and truly on track, our injury list is not.

Now, whose photos do you have, preventing you from being permanently banned from this board?

As I've told you on numerous occasions, it's a long season Benny. Only the dumbest of supporters would be declaring that they are going to finish top 4 this early in the season. Actually, according to our banter thread, you guys are already claiming the flag. I saw enough last night to say that you guys are more than beatable. Actually, if essendon didn't shit themselves and kicked straight, you would have been in big trouble. I'd be keeping my powder dry because you are no where near Sydney atm.

Hope Kreuger goes well today. I must admit I've lost faith in him being a long-term prospect for us because of his extensive injury history, but today is a great day for him to step up and lead our depleted forward line.

Hard match to tip, so I don't know what to think. Win this and we're a big chance to be in the top 4 when the bye arrives.
