bit concerning gardiner could not even manage 3 games in a row before suffering another injury

think we are a better side with a fit dizzy but its getting harder to see that being a realistic expectation to have
For a 27 year old he misses a lot of football. Really hope we can look at our defensive depth soon in the draft/trade period

FWIW, there's a pretty good relationship between us and the Dolphins now, to the point Rich is now doing some coaching (assume kicking, not running coach) with us. He was over at Redcliffe a couple of Thursday's ago in full Dolphins kit on the ground in the warm up etc. Dolphins players have also been down at training and in the sheds after games quite a bit, so hopefully both clubs can help each other with respect to what the other is good at, as opposed to being direct competitors as such.
Sounds good to me , the Dolphins have just afiliated themselves with Brisbanes Norths Devils.
In case you didn't know Terry the Axe Gillmister played there as a junior and has a bit still to do with the club I'm sure.
Imagine the axe giving out boys tackle practice. Then Imagine the bulldogs Cody the falls to the ground with the brush of a feather getting an Axe special.o_O
Heaven.:tearsofjoy:

Very excited to watch tonight's game. Think we've got a good run of games now until we play Melbourne at the G for the younger ones in the group to sync up a little with the team

Prediction, tight first quarter, but go on to win by 40

Go lions!!! 🦁

Hehe I'd argue he can't stop catching breaks, he is on a break often due to breaking down.

Also, I would be supportive of having NRL players involved in promoting AFL no matter the cause, that is worth its weight in exposure gold.

Problem is that in the interests of 'you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours' we'd have to be willing to promote their code too. And given Qld's predominate penchant for league, that's not really in our favour.

Wouldn’t really know where to find out but it feels like it has been a really long time since we have gone into a game without Hugh McCluggage?

coincidentally it was the game after hawks last year as well, missed with a hamstring complaint iirc

Yes, injured in the Hawks game in 2022 and out v GWS the next week. Only missed that game in 2022.
Prior to that it was round 17 in 2019 v Power.
The good news is we did win those two games.

Round 11 2022

GAME 2: Saturday May 28, Lions vs Giants

LIONS GIANTS
INSDaniel McStay,Deven Robertson,Marcus AdamsINSLachie Ash,Lachlan Keeffe
OUTSHugh McCluggage (Injured),Jack Payne (Omitted),Mitch Robinson (Medi-Sub),Tom Fullarton (Omitted)OUTSAdam Kennedy (Illness),Jake Stein (Medi-Sub),Xavier O’Halloran (Omitted)
As reported, no Whitfield or Taranto. Rookie Defender Jake Stein has been omitted. A POD for some teams, Hugh McCluggage is out injured as well. And a big non inclusion, Preuss isnt in, named in Emergency.

I hope Jaspa Fletcher has a solid game (Brownlow votes would also be acceptable) as he looks like a natural winger to me.
A high draft pick going at 12
Has had 10 games at VFL level so about the right time to see how he goes at AFL level.
At 183cm and 76 kg he may get pushed off the ball a bit at times early in his career.
Just need him to be damaging on the outside and restrict his opponents influence as much as possible.

My brother I absolutely guarantee you that nobody in Queensland that suddenly gets into NRL is going to do so by seeing a bit of cross promotion at a lions game.

I take your point but basically, if we being totally honest, Brisbane is never going to be an AFL town, so it is best that we co-exist with the league teams. Getting league players involved in promotions, in whatever form, gives the AFL a form of legitimacy that will help potentially attract more of the younger generation to the code as well as league.

Listening to his father in an interview this afternoon, he said Jaspa has been working hard and now weighs over 80 kg.😀

He's only played less than 18 games in 1 of his last 7 seasons which isn't too bad
I think it’s looking a bit ominous.

Trend not his friend - 9 games in 2021, bounced back to 21 2022, looking at 10 max in 2023.

His shoulder looks chronic in terms of limiting him - he was in a lot of pain after not that big a fall on saturday - so he has permanently lost some movement.

And he has had array of injuries from what i can remember this year - quad, ankle, shoulder?

He has always looked banged up but moved deceptively well.

Now i fear he is just banged up.

I also think he can look really ordinary first up so he should be told to get super fit and only included if so. No need to rush as long as Lester or even Joyce are fit.

That's a loser mentality. This idea of being friendly with league just bcos we're a Qld based team is stupid, to put it politely. Since our code is in direct competition with theirs, there's no need to be league's buddy.

Ok can we move on from this? Not sure everyone thinks this is an issue as much as you do 😂

Why wouldn't they? Seeing 2 broncos & a dolphin might spark some interest in those teams/that code, which means we potentially lose some members (and their dollars) and for what? To be nice?

I'm sure you've heard the saying, "Nice guys finish last"?

We have been coexisting or friendly with all clubs of all codes for as long as I can remember, Lethal used to sit down with Bennett and the other coaches to exchange ideas. Melbourne Storm also, have had relationship’s with a couple of Vic clubs.

After such a poor game last week I’ll take a win of any sort. Just need to get over the line here then build from there. If we want to finish top 4 can’t afford many more slip ups
