Interesting also given that Collingwood are playing Cox, Cameron and Mihocek fwd and only have 2 key defenders in Roughead and Madgen.
Cameron and Grundy will likely be 50/50 ruck as Grundy is not back at 100% fitness yet. Cox will be deepest forward and De Goey rotating though forward and midfield.

I'm just as confused as anyone else over Battle's omission...however If he plays for Sandy (which he won't as he'll be the sub) & Bachelor gets him going to Byrne's, Highmore, and Dunstan levels of grunt and swagger...it might not be such a bad thing. Some of the boys seem to be finding another level in Bach's presence. Even guys like Joyce are hitting strong form. An angry confident Battle is better than a meandering and confused Battle. However, it'll take more than a game I suppose, and Battle is probably a bit sore at the club (as Mowman alludes to) and very may we'll ask for a trade come year's end. Yet, maybe it would be good for him. Our development seems moronic in the seniors, but Bach is quietly doing good things in the tier below.

Oh well Hickey and Hind are both in the race for recruit of the season. Might as well add another when we delist him next year. Might be saving money to resign Hanners.
Fancy West Coast letting Hickey go for a bag of chips. What a rabble.

Going early, we have lost this at selection.

Dropping Battle is just plain stupid.

Are we purposely trying to get rid of our talent and hang on to the likes of Lonie, Joyce and Kent?

This club
I'm a massive fan of Battle and fear we might lose him , anyway I just hope they are giving the kid a rest knowing next few week's we will need him badly.

He earned his keep last week. Literally played in a ridiculously stupid role for months to no effect, plays his best game in that role and gets the arse. Great confidence builder.
Maybe but he was lucky to get a game last week given his outputs over the previous couple of weeks.

Maybe he's one of the one's who got ahead of themselves over the off season.

Perhaps he's got a touch of the jam, but not showing enough of the fig.

really is a weird one

Would be nice to have an ITK on the forum right now who would have some insight as to the reason behind this non-selection.
Stewart66 I’d say you’re most likely…

FMD the sacred cow that is Josh Battle.
Battle is a talented kid but has not progressed this year , really thought he could of had a blowout year this year but it just has not happened , is it where he is playing I don't know but he still should be getting more of the ball anyway.
Strange how Clark , Coffield and Battle have stalled in there development this year , hopefully they comeback with a vengeance next year and having Gresham and Paton comeback wanting to dominate.
Anyway some good things to come out of this year is the performance of Sinclair , Brad Crouch showing he is the A grade midfielder we have been looking for , Higgins showing why he was a first round draft pick and Highmore could actually be a quality rebound defender.

Is there anything we can comment on without you complaining
Haha I'm not actually complaining. I understand why Battle has been dropped, he has been very poor this year and it looks like others have overtaken him.

He needs to be better, I think he can be and will be. But this idea that he will walk away from the club and instantly be an A grader is hilarious.

Would agree that he has not taken his opportunities this year. Played well last week as they all did.

He is probably a bit unlucky because last week was his best game of the year but I think what happened is they really liked Long forward and the intensity he brought. So they are moving Billings back to wing and thus he takes Battle's spot.

Playing him in the right position would be a good start,
What a lot find funny/weird is last week was his best game for the year and then drop him pfft
Not the only one to go backwards this year Coff- Clark - Butler - Long

I would not have thought he was a winger anyway....Swingman is the term they use for him now. Hard to work out his position because his dimensions are that in "between" size. Maybe they could call him "mr Inbetween"

He is playing wing and Billings comes back and takes his spot.

Long played forward last week and played better than Battle has in that position all year so he keeps the spot.

This "play Battle in his best position" thing is ridiculous in my opinion, he has played every position this year forward back and wing and been poor in all of them.

I’d agree with you, but then we’d both be wrong.

But Billings is playing HF
