Pretty massive game in terms of the context for the rest of our season I reckon.

Obviously the Lachie news would’ve perked the group up a bit during the week but if we start getting dominated through the middle and subsequently the scoreboard again it’ll be interesting to see if and how we respond.

Probably by getting the early train home. :D
But seriously maybe at the bounce our backs should be sticking to their players like glue and make sure they have positional dominance. Or do they actually do this already:rolleyes:?
Make those tackles stick around the park, too many lately going in too hard directly at the opponent, only for them to take a step sideways and we turn into a turnstile .
take a step to one side before you get to them , show them which way you want them to go ,and they only really have one way to go , around you on the open side or through you, and that's when you line them up and f...g smash them in the side, ball and all.
Fire up Lions , I am.
play smart ,switch on and we win this.

It will be a bloody looooong long weekend if we lose again.
10 days until the next game, only one day less than our bye week.

I am hoping it is a long and happy 10 days

Predicting a close 2 goal win

I think we'll just be competitive enough to give our backs the support they need and our forwards enough chances to kick a winning total.

Surprised by so many getting annoyed at Tunstill getting a second game. I always find it kinda harsh when a player on debut is given 1 game. I prefer 2 or 3, even if you're planning to drop them, just to get them an actual exposure to the top level.

Also surprised at so many annoyed at Matho not getting selected. "If he gets 50 touches, will he get a game then?". Finding the ball has never been Matho's problem, it's what to do after he gets it. And Matho has only got one answer - "kick it long". If he has 20 GOOD disposals, then he deserves a game.

I'd prefer to give them 300 games but if his first game wasn't good enough you don't just keep playing him to be nice

We started well against Freo and the Demons but didnt capitalise. They get an easy/quick goal and we seem to go into our shell, playing slow and just bombing to contests which we lose.
So start well, but actually capitalise on the opportunities would be nice.

They are missing English, Daniel, Richards and Smith which is huge.

Good teams that work defensively tend to do that. We need to play 4 quarters and not bank on getting a huge run on and protecting a lead like we can do to mid range teams

Looking at the overall picture looking from the outside, my impression this season is that the Coaches and Senior Teams performances are well below expectations. I feel that the Coach and Assistants have lost the players. We have had many ugly performances this season but have not seen game enthusiasm at all compared to Carlton, Collingwood Richmond now and the player management/performance at Geelong. Just look at the Geelong v's Richmond game last week - a Classic. Are we performing anywhere near that - NO. Even though the Dogs have players out, I am not at all confident of us winning. Are we still going to play a crap performance or a vastly improved one? Let's hope we get the latter.

Hudson, Bruce and maybe even Adcock need to go

Well I would say we haven't looked like a team that has jelled , but we seem to of won a lot of high intensity games regardless.
So not sure why we haven't become comfortable with each other out there.
Bring the intensity back and I think we can roll them.
We will know by the first 10 minutes whether the intensity is high enough or not.
It's got to be rd3 2019 intensity against Port, they had the better of us for a few years, we beat them by smashing the contest with everything and then the next contest.

That's what we have to bring tonight, otherwise they will do it easy.
This is our grand final. Line in the sand.
Are we pussies or Lions?

There's no question we've dropped off a bit of toughness and resilience compared to recent years , despite being in most games , and the dam wall broke last week when we started as well as we could've hoped and just went to pieces when the game stepped up a notch. . There are likely a number of factors involved.

If we're still on track to be as competitive as we have been the last 3 years we should expect a big response this week for 4 quarters and a good win.
