Ryder confirmed out for minimum 4 weeks. Will we go in with 2 rucks? I'd still like to see Redden go in as first ruck with Lobbe swapping in as he gives a decent target in the fwd line.

This game, like most for us, is all about the mid-field - if we can restrict Watson and Stanton to just average or just above average games, then we have a chance of winning. If one runs riot, then it's all over.

So we fall in against a depleted Essendon...it just covers the major problems we have going forward with Matty Primus at the helm.

And then we'll back up with a solid win over an equally depleted and crap Melbourne team in Darwin and it'll be happy days for the board as the general riff-raff back 'our Matty' to the hilt with widespread Facebook, MySpace, Friendster and MSCHAT support.

Four keys to this game for us:

One: How effective our clearances are. We've been getting plenty of them lately, but none of them have been very effective, the ball usually lands in the throat of the opposition.
Two: Not turning over the ball so much. Not sure how this can be done, to be honest. Just need our players to be a little more aware.
Tres: That's three in Spanish.
Four: Have less men attacking the same man/ball. Far too often do we have a pile of 1 opposition player and 3 of our guys, while the remaining 2 opposition run away with the ball.

Port will struggle to win this, simply because of the inability to kick a winning score.

Highest score without Jay Schulz: 61
Average score without Jay Schulz: 55
Number of games won without Jay Schulz: 0
Highest score in the last 4 games: 62

Our midfield is having is troubles yes, but our forward line as it stands is non-existent.

Our KP talks just aren't working at all... Perhaps we should try going small out of FF. Sure have Westy and Stewart start at CHF and work up the ground, but go with a couple of small forwards out of the goal square like we use to with both Burgoynes, Gav and Dew.

P. Stewart looked like he has some forward skills, lil Chad might be suitable or even Logan. We need to try something different rather than Westhoff, D Stewart, and Brett Ebert who've failed all year.

Perhaps we could do something groundbreaking and rest our rucks out of a forward pocket deep .... Basically provide ourselves a bail out target.

Lobbe certainly has shown he can take a grab forward and can convert. He actually played some junior footy at CHF didn't he ?

That does not make for pleasant reading.

Law of averages suggest Ebert and Westhoff need to do something. Ebert has not kicked more than 2 goals in any game this season and it is 11 games ago the last time Westhoff kicked more than 2 in a game so we need some scoreboard pressure from these two. The weather forecast is not looking brillliant either.

That could yet work in our favour. Can only hope.

It's a great shame Salter was injured this would have been his major opportunity to show everyone what he's got.

Hopefully he can stack good numbers this week at full forward for the Eagles and press his claim for an opportunity.

Stewart playing as a full time forward this week according to Primus.

Step 1) Play Salter as Defender
Step 2) Play Stewart as Forward
Step 3) ???
Step 4) Delist

Sorry wasn't clear. Daniel is playing full time forward. Which was sort of obvious given we're playing two ruckmen.
