^ yep. ye's got a lot better in the one on one marking contests the last 6-8 weeks.

gets the body in at the right moment to knock the opposition of balance and then gets in a spoil. couldn't have asked for a better teacher in that aspect of the defensive craft than Hodge for Witho, Robertson, Gardiner and Cox and even older heads like Rich.

Funny you should say that, Noble said Witherden has benefited the most from Hodge at the fan Forum. God Hodge is a great asset.

As valuable as Docherty might be for Carlton, I reckon Witherden is looking like an upgrade for us. Docherty was always touted as an exceptional kick but Witherden is at another level - except on the odd oocasion when he gets too ambitious. BTW I thought Docherty as a special comments person was quite listenable although a couple of times the commentators had to cut him off when the action came - can wax on a bit.

Docherty's intercept marking is quite good. Witherden was always a good kick, he's improved his defence and the next step will be to improve his intercept marking and rolling off his opponent.

Coaches votes -I can only see the following combinations
7 5+2
7 4+3
5 5
5 3+2
5 4+1
1 1
Yep. I had a look at it, and it's an odd one - you can work out the only combo of votes that works, but because there's two sevens and three fives, we can't tell which player is which.

I think the votes were probably along the lines of:
Fagan
5 McCluggage
4 O'Meara
3 Beams
2 Walker
1 NRobbo

Clarkson
5 Martin
4 Beams
3 Walker
2 McCluggage
1 O'Meara

Can swap Clug/Beams with ease (7 pts each), and Walker/JOM/Martin (5 pts each) - can even swap Fagan and Clarkson. This combo makes sense to me though, because ruck was a key struggle for Hawks, Fagan reportedly raved about NRobbo's game, and O'meara deserved votes.

..this pride of Lion cubs are learning to hunt together. So, they had their biggest "kill" this weekend, they proved to themselves that killing Hawks is not so hard afterall...

They've heard there is a murder of crows on their way to Qld to do just that, so this pride of growing Lions will be there to meet them. Feathers will fly!

...after that, will be those little pussy cats, pfft, easy for these cubs!!:D
The beast to reunite with his pussy nemesis.

It will be interesting over the next 3 weeks v the Crows, Cats and Kangaroos to see if we can keep this intensity up. I'm expecting a blow out loss in there somewhere, very hard for the young guys to keep it going over an extended period.

Got a feeling we will win (or be VERY close) against the Crows. Respectable against Geelong; always tend to have good games against the Cats. But I reckon North could be a belting. They tend to do that to us more often than not :(

Nick Robbo really does a lot of team-oriented work that goes unnoticed. He was a big reason the Hawks were unable to convert their inside 50s into scoring shots, as he continually shoved and put on a shepherd in contests to deny them clean use of the ball. I'm so pleased for him that he has managed to find a niche in the team. Best 22 without question.
