Time to start thinking about the future and next season unfortunately…
Put the sore boys in for surgery and give the young players that are thereabouts as much exposure as possible in the last 7 weeks… no doubt we’ll keep having a crack but if the chips don’t fall out way the highest possible draft pick and some much needed quality young talent will be the reward…

Gee... love Big Boy, but straight back in?

I really want a win this weekend, we desperately need it.

Not sure how I feel about this, hopefully it's a massive emotional boost that gets the squad up again... it could also backfire but I feel.
He’s been on full training duties the past few weeks. Should be cherry ripe.

One more week in the VFL mine but happy to have him play out the season in the seniors after that. I don't dislike him like others on here.
I don't think he gets sucked into the contest as much as our other outside players which means we are better defensively with him in

Have to agree. Particularly with Worpel and his shoulder.

I see very little to gain for anyone involved from him spending weeks recovering from this shoulder just to play a few late games in the season and then have to go get surgery anyway. But plenty to lose if he comes back and injures it further.

Just get the surgery ASAP. Get stuck into the rehab now and then be completely right to go from day 1 of preseason.

Nothing against the blokes who are injured and I hope they recover well and come back bigger and better. However, maybe I am odd, but I am excited about what this provides for our lineup. Some of these kids are going to get a prime opportunity to show what they can do and maybe we can look back at this game in a few years time as the beginning of our new core developing. Wins and losses don't matter now - let's just see how these kids are developing and enjoy the high draft pick coming our way to assist the rebuild further this draft period.

Spot on, except I think it will be Howe for Day with Morris as sub again.

Unless Howe has been re-signed I really hope this isn't the case. If choosing which fringe players to select in the coming weeks we should be leaning on youth.

Agreed mate. I'm not sure why posters on here dislike him so much! Never understood it. He's played some bloody good footy in his career so far and was good in his games so far this year before his injury. If he can be back at his 18/19 form along with Amon and Morrison going through the wings, that's going to be very dangerous.

On a separate note, really hoping for Ward and Finn in this weekend.

I mean we've hated on better and more valuable players like Hill or Suckling before (before he moved back to half back a bit more). It's a hard role to get too many fans at Hawthorn unless you're pretty much among the best in the AFL at that position like Smith was for a few years.

I do think it's stupid though, he hasn't even really been given a lot of time in his preferred role which is how he got pushed out at Collingwood. Not his fault.

I am actually a fan of Howe's work and was arguing with quite a few posters that he was viewed internally as a best 22 player if fit back in the Clarko era even early this year. However I am not sure if he would be on the list next year - and if that would be the case then I would prefer for younger players to get the opportunities provided by the swathe of injuries.

I'm talking about Phillips sorry mate. I've seen enough of Howe personally.

With Day and Bramble out, I think Morris gets a full game now, with Phillips to be the sub.

There’s no benefit to playing Shiels and Howe anymore. We should prioritise giving Maginness, Ward and MacDonald minutes in the midfield.
