Our effort was outstanding tonight, everyone put in. Our kicking inside 50 is deplorable and whenever Melbourne went forward they were clean, but we always butchered the ball going inside 50. Marshall was insane tonight!

Solid effort with the energy, most we have dug in for a long time.

But you're only as good as the last kick in the play, just lacking that i50 kick, or finishing shot on goal. Wasn't pretty forward of centre.

Marshal proved me wrong. He played a blinder.

Byrnes was very good tonight.

Team showed a lot of heart tonight. Someone compared to them to the Cho era saints, nah not even close. By all rights we should have lost that game by 10 goals but we were in it right up until the end.

Four quarters of effort. That’s all I want to see, and tonight that’s what I got.

The basic skill errors are still killing us.

Umpiring was terrible.

The injuries suck.

We seriously need to stop bombing it to opposition defenders. It is terminal.

A great effort by our boys to fight to the end. With a bit of accurate goalkicking and some luck (the Owens bounce, the Gresh free) we'd have won the game.

So much to like by so many players. Steele looked back to his best. Marshall incredible. NWM, Jones.

Probably Max gone for the year which is a massive blow. But all around some great signs.

Umpires put their authority on the game in the last 10 minutes. Nick Foote is a gimp, don't ask me how I know.

Bring that effort for the rest of the season and we will be ok. The kids are good, Windhager was good off the back flank as well I thought, maybe a good spot for him to get his hands on the ball. Onwards and upwards to next week.

Good effort, deserved to be closer.

Over at qtr time, but the effort was there and Melbourne had to work all game to win.
Looked better with Jones and Billings in. Byrnes best game he has played.

We have said it all year and last and the year before, need to be better in the forward entries.
Nice to see Steele back to form.

All in all, not upset with that effort and display at all.

Apart from our forward entries there's not much you can fault with that performance. Our pressure was immense considering we only had 2 on the bench for a majority of the game. Melbourne were pretty ordinary to be honest.

Absolutely - they are miles off it - they got nothing out of tonight except the 4 points.

Saints gutsy and started to show a little bit - 100% better than the Eagles win last week.
