After some great game day coaching, we tried to shut it down too early, threw Gunston back and he wasn’t able to impact any contest at all. Melbourne threw an extra to the stoppage and took advantage of Gawns complete dominance.

Well that sucks. Awful feeling. Hard to be unhappy overall though - incredibly competitive effort away against another top 4 side playing the best they have in months.

Won't finish top 2 now, but that mightn't be the worst thing for us.

Proud of the effort we showed tonight on the whole. Step forward, despite the result.

I thought it would be tough tonight and there was a good chance we would lose it. But to have the game in the bag 15 minutes ago and lose it like that is unforgiveable. Why can't we see a game out? Why can't we stick a tackle? Why was Gawn on the end of every single one of our clearing kicks? Why did so many players go missing?

In the space of a few minutes we went from cementing top 4 and looking up at top 2, to looking over our shoulder. Yes we have a buffer but we also have a tough run in. Need to step up big time to have any sort of impact on the end of this season.

Use of the ball coming out was terrible in the final term. So slow & defensive.
