What a great result and full kudos to the club for getting a top lawyer to run the appeal. The whole AFL argument by their legal team was garbage from the start and how the tribunal ever accepted it was mind boggling.

Whilst it’s been a roller coaster week, the best part about it is the fact it’s embarrassed the shit out of the AFL in the end.

I think it's a "line in the sand" moment for the AFL as a whole. When the AFLPA came out and said they don't know what's going on, then it's a pretty big statement.
People are p*ssed with the mess this year. Changing rules mid-season. Umpiring in general. Players being suspended entirely based on outcome vs action.

I think we argued that the tribunal worked backwards from the concussion, rather than the fundamentals of making a tackle, that wasn't bad that unluckily led to a concussion.

I wonder if it falls under the soft cap? If it does it shouldn't be counted if we win even if they don't refund it.

So essentially by not mentioning or assessing whether the tackle broke the laws of the game relating to whether it could be expected to cause Injury, the appeals board assessed that the tribunals therefore by its admission that the tackle didn't break the laws. Therefore no case to answer because the tribunal themselves said it was a legal action.
