Ok, it's fine tuning time!!

6 Trades & $138k in the kitty...

I'm spewing I haven't got Zerrett in earlier..

A couple of scenarios

Scenario 1
HALL or WINGARD ---> ZERRETT

This would be my only trade, but would use most of my cash.

Scenario 2
MENEDUE --> Naismith (This will also give Ruck cover via Grimley if Goldy or Gawn was to go down) + give me an extra $170k in the bank.
HALL or PETRACCA or WINGARD --> Zerrett + be left with approx $150k & 4 trades

Scenario 3
Ditch the idea of getting Zerrett & focus on upgrading Collins or DBJ --> McVeigh in defence??

Thoughts??

FYI, here is my full team:

I'd be looking at bringing in Docherty instead. Effectively a choice between Docherty and Wingard on field, or Collins and Merrett on field.

8 Trades and 75.3k in the bank and a few problems to sort out

1k short of Barlow -> Monty and Adams -> Boyd

Your priority should be a premo lineup first, then tweak players - that means finishing off your D6. I like McVeigh there personally, but there might be better value (I haven't checked).

8 trades and $220k left.
Mainly going for league wins, and just push my overall ranking as high as I can (currently around 3300).
Initial thoughts are Libba > Bont/Neale.
Could possibly upgrade Shiel, or one of Hall/Wingard as the other trade, but I don't think there are many better forward options.
Would like to bring in Gawn but I feel I won't gain much over my two current rucks.
Going early on JJ seems like a bad choice.

Any suggestions?

Love the bench cover.

Collins is your weakest on field player. I'd go Collins to McVeigh. Just the one trade.

To pick up matthew boyd with my last upgrade or not can afford any decent defender, edging on the side that he may be rested towards the end with the weaker opposition they have should i go M Boyd or take Rory Laird and hope the softy can play with a bruised toe?

Who are the rest of your defenders?

I've got 3 trades left and my team is complete, but i'm carrying spudarakis. I got sucked in at his maximum average and price and hes only currently worth 376k and ive got about 65k in the bank. Best I can afford in a direct swap is Toby Greene, Armitage or Matt Crouch so really not wanting to burn a trade on a spud for spud replacement.

I've got some decent priced backups on the bench at the moment (Collins and Gresham) so could do one last downgrade/upgrade but it'll leave me with a single trade.

What do pls
$376k

Damn Menadue is not far off that.

No response :'( So done some further analysis myself...

Removed the following from my shortlist:
- Jelwood (can't afford and likely to not be able to afford next week either)
- Coniglio (too many GWS players in my team: Shaw & Ward)
- Priddis (injury cloud and under performing)

That leaves..
- Rocky... has Essendon, Port Adel, Adelaide, Carlton, Geelong for the run home. Has averaged 116sc against these 5 teams in their past 3 encounters.

- Gray... has GWS, Brisbane, Syd, Mel, Adel for the run home. Has averaged 117sc against these 5 teams in their past 3 encounters.

Leaning towards Gray. He has three top 8 teams in his next 5 games, but has performed well against Sydney (126avg last 3 games) and loves the Adel showdown (128 avg last 3 games). With Port contending for finals, I don't see him slowing down. Plus, Rockys injuries have burned me many times in the past.

Definitely overthinking this, just need to make myself feel better about not getting Jelwood

tl;dr - Robbie Gray or Rockliff as final mid premo? Thinking Gray.
I'd go Gray

I haven't been a prolific poster on this board this season but I was hoping to canvass opinion on my potential trades for this week. Currently ranked 2,237, with 9 trades, no cash and main aim is highest overall finish. Team is:

DEF: Docherty, Simpson, Laird, Rance, Yeo, DBJ, Collins, Lee

MID: Danger, Pendles, Parker, Hanners, Gray, Ward, Sidebottom, Libba, Trengove, Phillips, Crocker

RUCK: Gawn, Goldy, Cox

FWD: Martin, Merrett, Zorko, Wells, Monty, Gunston, Hall, Menadue

My two main aims are to get Shaw in for DBJ/Collins (who I haven't had all year) and upgrade Libba to an SP Mid (Rocky I'm liking most at the moment at his price and scoring ceiling). Menadue to Naismith will fund either of these trades, with the other coming next week funded by a Cox downgrade and potentially a final backline trade after that to make Yeo D7/M10.

So the questions - In which order would you do the trades? Shaw in would potentially net me more points this week, but an 80 from Libba would coast a lot of cash with some of the better mid options still rising in price.
Also, who would you prefer to keep as defensive coverage as D7/8 for the remainder of the year, DBJ or Collins?

Cheers

Have 5 trades left.
Can make Wells > Dusty
Also thinking of downgrading Collins for cash so I can get anybody in case of injury.

Dusty is a must with his form. Is Wells your worst forward? I still like Wells to finish the season strong, so perhaps use some of the Collins downgrade cash to fund an upgrade for an alternative to Wells?

Similar situation to me actually. I'd do the Menadue to Naismith trade anyway, regardless of what the upgrade is, as it gives you cover on two lines and more cash in the bank. If it was me I'd probably get Merrett for Petracca as well (given Merrett's low b/e) and hope to get McVeigh in for Collins or DBJ with one trade next week. Will leave you with not a lot of cash but great cover everywhere and a very strong on field team

Id get shaw in for dbj this week. Then at least you're full premo and there's no reason why libba won't ton this week with sore ribs that have been exaggerated to epic proportions to cover over the fact he ended up in an ambo like a big sissy with just a bruise.

Nice team with 9 trades left :thumbsu:

I like DBJ as a keeper. Port have a taste of finals blood and he will play out the season. Collins will get games but Freo will also get pumped most weeks. DBJ has the higher ceiling as well.

Yeo should start putting out some 90+ scores so you want to keep him and loophole the bastard.

Why burn Menadue and his DPP to Naismith when you can just go Cox to Naismith and regain your ruck cover?
Note you lose 20k trading Cox and not Menadue.
That's trade 1.

Trade 2 I would move Collins to Shaw but you would be short 11k after trading Cox instead of Menadue. Also Shaw has a BE of 124 and may drop the 10k you need to make this trade happen next week.
SO

Trade Libba to a premo but remember Rocky is a little bitch and in 13.9% of teams. A POD like Bont or cheaper again Coniglio might get you a little further up the rankings as they fight for top 4 while Rocky cries about his skin folds and contract value.

No trades this week since round 2.

Whats the world coming to?

Thanks, appreciate the detailed reply. I think I possibly agree on DBJ over Collins. Playing in a better side, potential finals push and has been a lock the whole year. A minor injury to Collins could finish him for the year.

Menadue won't make his breakeven and I'm probably going to move him next week regardless and so Naismith ends up in the ruck one way or the other. I'll decide next week then whether to get Markov at his mark-up or a DPP bargain basement ruck and allow Hall and Naismith to cover F7 duties between them as well as M9 and R3.

Your logic is good and I don't think Shaw makes his b/e this week but I'm leaning more towards getting him in anyway. Libba+Shaw should score in the 220-240 range, Collins/DBJ + whatever mid premo could easily be less than 180. Possibly 50 points in the difference is huge at this stage of the year, considering the marginal cash benefits involved.

Cheers...I have a feeling Libba will do exactly this if he plays

I just want to traaaaaaade!

My bench cover is horrible and it's killing me

But I only have 2 trades left so I can't :(
