How ******* bad is that Elliot goal where he changes direction outside the boundary and isn’t called? Aliir ran in a straight line, as per the rule, and got pinged. Should have been a throw in.

Garbage umpiring as usual.

Umpire was too busy telling off one of our players on the 5m protected area line. He didn't call play on until Elliot was inside the boundary, and the boundary umpire couldn't do anything because play on hadn't been called.

Reminds me of when we lost to the swans (with buddy at the peak of his powers) by under a kick at the scg in mid-2014, when like last night, were made to pay for our wasted chances. We all know what happened after that…

What about the snap shots on goal starting out of bounds? Every shot is the player leaving the line but allowed

Let's not forget Marshall had a clear throw to Evans which resulted in a goal.

Umpiring wasn't great but we didn't get screwed imo.

The last 5 minutes they did the usual "free kicks don't exist" thing. You still need to pay the obvious ones that are there.

And there were two very obvious HTB by Collingwood. I can wear not paying the mark the Farrell, but those non calls were bad.

The rule should be as long as you're in a kicking motion then you're fine, which is the way it's adjudicated 99.99% of the time anyway.

There were issues elsewhere on the ground, but the obvious one is, if we’d kicked 5.3 or 6.2 in our otherwise strong third quarter we win. It was a classic Hinkley quarter of doing everything except finishing it off. We’ve all seen it enough times, that if you’d had a gun put against your head at 3 quarter time and said pick the result or you’re gone, most would have picked a close loss due to the poor kicking and walked out still breathing.

For all the carry on about technicalities of free kicks/out of bounds and play ons, there was an instance in the last quarter where sidebottom had the ball over the boundary line. A Throw in was called and sidebottom then proceeds to run into play and shove the ball into a Port player.

Under 18:10.2 C) this should have been a free kick to Port for not handing the ball to the boundary umpire or dropping it at the boundary.

Would love to see that mind numbingly selective twat has the umpire made the right call review that one.

I don't think I'll be able to get the image of the ball being kicked in to 50, Marshall standing relatively loose, and rather than having eyes for the footy, looked for his man, then ran next to him to body him up, then losing the contest and losing front position to be outmarked.

Just out of curiosity, did Dixon get pinged for that at a bounce earlier in the game?

I once paid an out of bounds for a similar thing and was told by the field umps to probably let it go unless it's an extreme situation, like play on has been called multiple times or the players runs in a straight line down the boundary with crossing in to the field.
