A noticeable change from Melbourne is that at the start of the third quarter (and for probably half the quarter), Melbourne was starting with 2 spares in defence - we had one spare in our defence and one on the wing.

They don't seem to have stuck with that into the last quarter.

You know what Scott's problem is? He's too much of a barracker. He thinks Geelong can do no wrong and he's got the players thinking the same. It leads to complacency, lazyness, and everyone losing their heads at the first sign of adversity.

As weird as he was, Bomber Thompson was a realist and could be objective about things, and the result was the unstoppable juggernaut that could force a win even on days when things weren't going right. Need someone more like that.
