i'd be mad about the commentary but i'm not surprised, 7 are the worst.

hopefully someone puts the finish on youtube with the radio calls.
Good point, have set my IQ for 360 now. They always replay the big moments of the weekend with alternate commentary calls. Only highlights even further how shit 7 are in that department!

Shut up CF. Do you always have to piss on our parade?
How exactly how am I pissing on your parade? This win ranks up there with Bartels point on the siren in 2009 one of the greatest wins I have seen (apart from the flags). But that doesn't mean we are suddenly premiership favourites. Just because you want to live in some fantasy land doesn't mean I have to.

15.2.4 A pplication — Specific Instances where Play
shall Continue

For the avoidance of doubt, the field Umpire shall allow play to
continue when:
(a) a Player is bumped and the football falls from the
Player’s hands;
(b) a Player’s arm is knocked which causes the Player to
lose possession of the football;
(c) a Player’s arms are pinned to their side by an opponent
which causes the Player to drop the football, unless the
Player has had a prior opportunity to Correctly Dispose of
the football, in which case Law 15.2.3 (a) shall apply;
(d) a Player, whilst in the act of Kicking or Handballing, is
swung off-balance and does not make contact with the
football by either foot or hand, unless the Player has had
a prior opportunity to Correctly Dispose of the football,
in which case Law 15.2.3 (a) shall apply; or
(e) a Player is pulled or swung by one arm which causes
the football to fall from the Player’s hands, unless the
Player has had a prior opportunity to Correctly Dispose
of the football, in which case Law 15.2.3 (a) shall apply.

Hawks-Geelong from '08-12 is one of the all-time great rivalries.
Tremendous teams playing consistently outstanding matches with the added piquancy that Geelong now can't lose but Hawthorn 'pinched' the flag in '08. Layers of intrigue and each game outdoes the last one. Amazing.

Considering the GF was probably the biggest motivator for Geelong in 2009, and they also won in 2011, when do we forget about the 2008 GF and accept Geelong has pretty much got their revenge? I can't see another GF with the current teams, and Geelong put serious dents in Hawthorns 2009 finals aspirations and 2011 finals, have won 2 premierships since and not lost to Hawthorn either...the satisfaction of the Cats would almost outweigh the disappointment of 2008 now.

For me, the worse decision of the night was not the Burgyone throw, or the Rioli tackle, it was that advantage from a downfield free kick (which is basically a 50 which can't have advantage) where everyone had stopped. Not so much the final decision to call play on, just the umpiring in general. Umpire hesitated to make a decision after the free kick, Cats stopped, play on called. Had to be quick on the whistle to give both teams a fair chance, but hesitated and I think I saw a bit of shit come out from the umpire's shorts as well.

Sorry mate, right after I posted I realised that I misread your post and I didn't bother to delete it.

Totally agree with your points

After reading this good it's great to see neutrals slam the commentating. It's was pathetic. Channel 7 are an extremely amateur organisation.

And the umpires were also disgraceful as most of you had indicated.

Tommahawk was brilliant. The snap...the goal after the siren.

I'm loving the Hawks supporters crying out how they were robbed from the umpires. After 3 quarters of being handed the game on a silver platter it's only fitting. The Rioli non free may have been the straw that broke the Camel's back, but the 50 point deficit was the million other straws underneath it.

.... How 90% of hawk supporters acknowledge that an 8 goal head start was the reason for losing but it's the other 10% that gets mentioned. Tonight was a good game - its what makes our game a great game

Sweet game of footy. Great comeback by the Hawks but their defence was exposed a bit. Was great to watch even with the awful seven commentary. Thought that was holding the ball at the end though. So annoying how umpires seem to change interpretations willy nilly when the pressure is on. Tom Hawkins is certainly becoming a force in the game.
