Re the vid - two training sessions for the week, one 30 min and one 40 min. Is that little training normal?

Sounds like must been few sore bodies around, hence limited training. Also probably cos they were worked so hard during preseason they decided ease off little this week.

Could also be due to GWS having 14 days off since their last game. They will be fresh, probably a good idea to have our blokes pretty fresh too, thus a light week on the track

As Riewoldt said on Footy Classified the players get their fitness from playing games once the season starts so during the week is more focused on recovery, skills work and meetings to analyse the previous game and discussing tactics/gameplans for the next game. It would only be the players who had interrupted preseasons or have missed games that would need to do long hard fitness sessions during the season to catch up.

Looks like we've already lost :(

Those training sessions also wouldnt include any gym and bike/swimming work.

Match fitness is really what its all about, so much more demanding then any training is.

Don't know if it has already been said or anything in here but heard that Savage will be the sub tomorrow.

Good move I think, didn't have the best game last week but I don't think it is right to drop him considering he is a little bit more experienced than some of the other boys and I think giving him the vest might just spark him a little and give him a wake-up call.

I agree hammers, I think that they are weighing up between savage and Eli. I think savage should be sub because he will have more of an impact as sub and it will give him a wake up call

o_O?

Weren't some on here saying they thought he got the fwd tag?

From what I could tell, effort was there, just didn't find the footy too much.

Remember, he was one of our best v GWS in Wagga a few weeks back.

Templeton to start with sub for mine, if Savage isn't impacting on the game, an option for the red vest.

The guys are at the club nearly everyday doing gym work, skills, ice baths, getting massages, physio etc.
the 2 training sessions would be the 2 main ones the players would have to get through to be ready for the weekend.

Basically this, Savage was being made ineffective but he was at a lot of contests and was going hard for the ball every time I saw him. His opponent was also very hard going at him at the same time. He was tagged.

GWS won by 68 points in the NAB challenge game, they got 7 super goals that add 21 extra points point onto there score, if we were playing normal rules, we only lost by 47 points.
Without super goals being added (added normal 6 points) -
In that game -
1st quarter lost by 1 point
2nd lost by 42 points
3rd lost by 10 point
4th Won by 6 points

Saying that we only had one bad (really bad) quarter, the rest was pretty even between the two teams, and both teams played at a neutral venue (wagga), so playing at Etihad will defiantly be more suited to St kilda considering GWS have never won there and there's going to be a whole lot more support for stkilda, which IMO makes a difference!!
It's going to be a close game, but if we preform the way we did last week and don't play like we did in the 2nd quarter against them last time, I tip us for the win, I think our more experienced players / home advantage can take us over the line.

Here's the ins and outs, from that Practice Match to now for us:

In: Gilbert, Templeton, Roberton, Stanley
Out: Billings, Lee, Longer, Ross, Schneider, Simpkin, Webster, Weller (note there were 26 players playing)

I reckon that's some pretty handy ins, just quietly.

Just passing on what I was told re Shane starting in the vest.

Effort was there but we need him to be able to find the footy on a consistent basis and be a 20 touch a game player. If we want to progress we have to set higher standards for our more senior players and he is one of them.

Also I was filthy about his first contest as a Saint but prepared to forgive him of course.

Templeton may only get 10 kicks for the game. And may not be an impact player

Was surprised Roberton is still only 21.
