just need to pump games into players like him,

i can't see us losing this, sen mentioned the hawks v dons game was the lowest for pressure by a mile, so bring our pressure i think we roll them easy
We roll them easy?

You should re-watch our last 2 games. Not good match up for us. Essendon midfield is bloody good, we struggle with their speed and spread. They re-bound well especially if we go again tall. Witts struggles againt Draper big way.

Work rate, pressure is non-negotiable to have a chance.

My guess is Uwland, Farrar, Hollands, Rosas, with Chol sent a message he needs to seriously up his effort with King taking over his role.

Would like to see someone like Sexton or Rosas if he isn’t named, as sub. Someone who can come in and have an impact against tired legs.

Bringing fresh legs Fiorini on in the second half just doesn’t move the needle in any way for me. Either in the 22, or VFL.

I wanna see Sexton in the 22.

Last time he played at Marvel he kicked 6. Keep that going

As confirmed on Thursday afternoon, Lachie Weller will make his return to AFL against the Bombers more than nine months since being sidelined with an ACL injury.

As also confirmed by Senior Coach Stuart Dew, Round 1 debutant Bodhi Uwland would feature again this weekend with the 19-year-old named on the interchange alongside Elijah Hollands, Malcolm Rosas Jnr and Round 1 substitute Brayden Fiorini.

Alex Davies, Mabior Chol and Jy Farrar are the three omissions from Round 1, with the latter two players named among the emergencies alongside Alex Sexton and Connor Blakely.

One of the four emergencies will be named as the SUNS substitute an hour before the bounce. An appearance as the substitute for Blakely would be a SUNS club debut for the former Docker, while it would also be Sexton’s first taste of AFL in 2023.

Omitting our highest 2022 goal kicker from one game is very suspect. Especially when we have Casboult, who did practically nothing as well and won’t be part of our team going forward. Chol and King should be playing together as much as possible.

We’re also no faster than we were last week out of defence either, nor really that much better by foot.

And if I were Sexton, I’d just pack up my bags and ask for a payout. Why bother even naming him. Just tell him he’ll never play again and let him live his life.

A little over-reaction, IMO. Selection usually rewards off-season in early rounds. I could make case for 18 players to be replaced based on round 1 performance. If players don't respond then I would expect more changes.

If you re-watch the game, some Chol's lack of efforts were shocking. Even I noticed and I enjoy watching him. But he does like to complain about bad kicks to him and just watching other players to crash packs. IMO, some nice kick in the a** was needed. He can relax in VFL for some time.

Sexton over who (Jeffrey, Rosas, Holman, Hollands, Ainsworth, Flanders)? Not for me right now. If he plays well in VFL he gets opportunities. It's not like clubs queued for Sexton in the off-season.

Don't mind the changes. I probably would play chol ahead of casboult also but might not be the worst to kick him into gear. Sexton should be sub so hope he takes his chance when he gets it. Players are now on notice with more to return in coming weeks, they now have to perform or they will be back in the 2's.

He is slower and a worse kick than Farrar. I just don't get it at all?
It could be ******* dry as Mars out there and he will still be a worse player than Jy.
I agree with you, looks like Dew is trying to make him play Lukosius' old role offensively, but he's also keeping out Graham defensively.

Personally I would play Sexton over Rosas, at least for now. I know many disagree. But recent form and fitness has me picking Sexton over Rosas for this game.

IMO, Casboult for me is the tall we should omit. He didn’t play well either, and was subbed off for a reason. If our goal is to play him for a half every game, don’t bother, as that is a waste of a player sub in my view.

And our defence is still shambolic, which I know is somewhat unavoidable. Luckily Essendon aren’t playing tall, so a small backline might just do ok. Just need to hit those kicks and be willing to chain out of defence to open up the game. But it’s just so un-inspiring…

Don't mind dropping Chol, he was putrid last week and I personally would have moved Casboult but I can see why the team selection did what it did. Should go back and dominate Williamstown.

Rosas coming back in is good for frontal pressure we lacked last week.

Fiorini, while uninspired, is consistent, will get you between 20-30 touches and play a 6/10 all day everyday.

Weller in is huge and while I probably wouldn't have dropped Farrar, his foot skills were sorely missed.

Powell comes back in next week for either MacPherson or Constable, we will wait and see.

I think Powell comes in for Constable and Sean Lemmens/Connor Budarick comes in for DMac.
