I know most people on Bigfooty hate Gerald, and most on this forum think he's a biased Geelong flog, but it was just such a great call. The sheer astonishment in his voice.

"that should be stricken from the record"

Fly's presser.

What was your reaction to Jeremy Cameron's two out of bounds goals? Did you see it?

"I did see it on the big screen. I didn't think I need to make comment, the crowd were going alright weren't they. What can we do about it, really? It might be worth asking the AFL. They can all see it on the screen. I don't know the rules, but do they have the ability to look at the replay and say 'nah, that's definitely out of bounds', I'm not sure if they do? Only for goals? It is what it is, we make mistakes. I've made plenty in the last couple of weeks. We grow; you can't do much about it".
I wish more people on here would approach umpiring errors in the same way Fly does. He just speaks about it so well.

Maybe he was the only one who was on the right angle. The cameras certainly weren’t and neither was 95 percent of the crowd. It was probably oob but it’s not the howler people are making it out to be.

The other was a stinker. A clear breach of the rules.

Say that again?!

It was over by a metre and the campaigner was standing right there to see it.

Even if he did get contact within the boundary, he double grabbed it. It should have been a throw in at minimum.

I’m not saying it was the right call.

I’m just saying that at best, I can let that one go as “well we just had a bad angle”

Still seething about that out of bounds handball to Jezza Cameron which resulted in a goal. And our guys standing around watching because it was OUT OF BOUNDS.

Hurts more than the out of bounds mark to Cameron. Seen them before and they happen occasionally. But to handball and then play on - all outside the field of play - and score a goal! It was stupendously bad.

Mr Park has asked if I want a Royal Commission.😡

Tell him the next time he watches Geelong in a final he will be wearing a nappy.

for all the talk about how good Cameron was, after the first quarter, 2 of his 4 goals should have been disallowed and one was a joe the goose from Henry who could have easily run in and kicked the goal himself.

In the meantime Mihocek just gets the job done and kicks five without fuss or fanfare.

Aside from N Daicos, that was our best 22 selected.

I like Ginnivan as sub and Frampton in. Gives us flexibility to cover injuries like last night.

One less tall gives us more run, plus Markov’s coming out of defence is important, would rather him in the 22 than the sub.
Sidebottom to take up golf ⛳

Agree. But he’s still an absolute gun. A key forward that can kick 5 goals and get 25 touches. Insane

Collingwood have an umpire problem when Jack Ginnivan plays. Even though he is long past his free staging ways, the umpire directive that he not be given free kicks remains. Whatever hole in the AFL organisation it came from, this blight on the game continues. Whenever he is there, free kicks for head high tackles are distorted. He doesn't get any, no matter what happens to him. The umpires know this is not right, and they lose their perspective on other such tackles, with dangerous ones let go while marginal ones are penalized with no pattern.

It is time that the AFL came out, admitted that as an organisation it over reacted and returned the competition to a safer regime. Given its reaction to the out of bounds mistakes on Friday, I'm not holding my breath. I don't know any setup outside politics where admission of error is so unbearable.
I don't think he will ever again receive a free kick for a high tackle. Also hate the way the commentators always assumed he has directly played for a free everytime he is taken around the neck - like yesterday.

A total flog. His brother Brad is one of the nicest blokes you could ever meet.
Spent a little time talking to him and he ended up kicking a footy around with my children.
Genuinely happy to meet us.
Yeah they seem chalk and cheese don’t they?

Both hard players and tough as. But you can see why Brad was hunted by the afl.

Fantastic win. In Fly we Trust

But seriously those yellow morons did everything possible to keep them in the game.

But what really p****d me off at each centre bouncy De Goey was constantly manhandled, grabbed, pushed and those yellow morons did nothing.

Dangerflog trips of his own shoelaces and he gets a free.

Interesting to note in one of the post game shows, Cameron Mooney said based on his past experience many clubs who have already qualified ramp up their training and for a few games you feel flat.

AFL, the Church, Defence Forces all circle the wagons and defend themselves to the hilt if any hint of wrongdoing

Bare minimum, it wasn't a clean grab and should have been a throw in.

Of course it was a clean grab. His right hand/arm never lost contact with the ball… at least nothing that was observable to the naked eye. Wrapping your other arm around it doesn’t make it a double grab, the question is whether it bounced off one hand to the other. That’s not obvious. And whether or not it was over the line is completely the umpires call. He’s the only one in the right position in that particular case, especially at that part of the ground where the boundary line is especially curved.

He was good in the second half but quiet in the first.
Only really the second quarter that wasn’t at standard with the rest of the game. He started really well through the first half of the first but had zero mates

Happy for you to think that despite the video showing it wasn't.

I didn't think he started so well. He made skill errors like missing a very gettable goal. He was great in the 2nd half.

Just watched the game again (except the first quarter) and give my impressive player of the night to Murphy. He was better than Moore would have been. Tight and well positioned for contests. He marked every ball kicked in his direction in the air and on his chest. The commentary team remarked on the leadership role he had assumed after Moore was subbed, then a minute or so later showed live video of him making moves and shouting directions from his central position. I thought it the most mature and spectacular game he has played. To think we considered delisting him!
