Drop Everyone Minus Jarred, Pat & Kj
Maybe a bit extreme but I was going to suggest giving some new guys a go, we aren't going to do any damage in the finals, and I've said for about 4 weeks now it would probably have been better if Brisbane got up against the Blues tonight and beat us next week and gave us a reality check for next year. Collapsing in the last half of the season after a confidence boosting start against weaker teams, and falling into the finals by half a game does no good for anyone, it just gives the team, club and supporters a false sense of security, "We're still good, we made the finals this year". The fact is we need to go back into the doldrums and rebuild again, not sit just in or just out of the eight for the next 10 years like North have in the last 10. IMO (and not many people will like this) it would be a blessing in disguise if Richmond beat the Dees by 25 goals next week and knocked us down to 9th.

Leo OUT (permanently)
LRT OUT (permanently)

Faulks IN
White IN

Grundy to full forward.

I don't expect many changes, Micky O should be back, the reserves didn't play this week so it would be hard to expect players like Fosdike and Malceski to earn their way back in.

So:

IN: O'Loughlin
OUT: Roberts-Thomson (I thouht we had one tall too many going in and I was right, with various defenders in Teddy, Bolts and Leo being thrown up forward).

I dont know if anyone is going 2 agree with me but i think we missed Ablett last night...i mean least he gets in, under and around the ball and gets it out to a team mate and can lay a good tackle when needed

Whats his likes of coming in this week?

No chance. I reckons his days as an AFL footballer might be coming to an end.

surely there are more that should be going before him

Like who?

Davis and Mathews gone. Spider may retire.
Then who? Leo Barry? You can't write him off after coming back obviously underdone.

Unless Ablett is injured (and he may well be) then I think his time might be up.
We will see.

I dont think Ablett will go

You didn't answer the question. Who will go? Why is Ablett being dropped in Round 21? Is he injured? Or is his place in the squad in doubt? Who is Geelongs version of Ablett (position wise) and how does ours compare to him?

Can we afford to carry a player like him later on, and do the sides going better than us have a player for his position much better than the one we've got.

THESE are the things the Swans need to review at the end of the year. We need to start building the foundation for our next assault at the premiership.

We NEED to DECIDE which players are going to be part of that, and whether some are surplus to our needs.

It IS a harsh reality, but if we do it now, we will spare ourselves a lot of pain.

i dont know exactly
but last night when we had Kirk in the forward 50 we had no one to get in and under the ball besides bolton, poor craig bird was trying but i think Ablett would have helped with pressure

We have players that are very well at there end but throw out Players like Ablett and our list is very weak...i dont know exactly i think he had a good year but because of he has been lacking in recent weeks and because its towards end of season its high lighted even more

like u said he could be carrying and injury...due to a bye for the ressies Ablett didnt have a chance to redeem himself in the twos but i think he will be given next year to play...i hope OMG I CANT LOSE MY TWO FAVE PLAYERS (before Moore) In two years i will seriously be depressed

I dont know i cant give a good argument atm but i just dont think getting rid of Ablett is the right choice

if you were talking about G Ablett, then yes. L Ablett is another story and his inclusion would not have made one scrap of difference last night. He's been amongst the worst all year, hence the fact he was dropped. Plus the fact that the whole team was shyte last night. We would have needed 8 G abletts to carry us. Whether he is included against the Lions will not make one scrap of difference either. Put him in, take him out, give him a meat tray, it really wont matter.

If
NM lose to Port
Adelaide lose to Bulldogs
St Kilda lose to Essendon
Collingwood lose to Fremantle

and we beat Brisbane we'll be 4th.

It would probably sum up the 2nd half of the season if all 4 some how manage to lose, and we stuff it up by losing to Brisbane.

For anyone entertaining the possibility of Swans still gaining a top 4 berth(why you'd want to play Geelong in the 1st week is beyond me)
Collingwood need to lose to Freo
North need to lose to Port
Crows need to lose to the Dogs
Saints need to lose the Bombers
AND
Swans need to defeat The Lions.
Many other permetations can take place but these are the major ones.I doubt it will come down to percentage

I was thinking about the logic about playing geelong if fourth, but wouldnt that give us a double chance?
