Review Round 23, 2024 - Collingwood vs. Brisbane Lions

I know it feels like throwing the toys out of the cot and after sitting through 15 years of absolute shit we really should be grateful every chance we get at finals, but I must admit the excitement levels for this finals series will be pretty hard to get up for.
We ain’t winning the flag from the bottom half of the 8. The worst part is that over the past 2 weeks it’s been on us that effectively have thrown that chance away with miss after miss after miss.
Moving forward though losing an elim final with that as the backdrop may not actually be the worse thing for this group going into next year. Hopefully if nothing else they won’t take those first 6-8 weeks for granted as much and bank a few more wins instead of having to spend the rest of the year playing catch up.

Nah I don't buy it. Obviously that's your opinion but I'm not ready to go that hung-ho despite my opinion that we can do better in the coaching department from 2026 onwards, doesn't mean the ship has sunk right now or there should be calls to sack the coach etc.
If we played awfully against the Giants & Pies, maybe I'd somewhat agree but we did enough to win both games and came up short. Very likely we beat the Bombers, get a home Elim and then play a team we are capable of beating in a Semi. Then into a Prelim, anything can happen.
Goal kicking has to be our NUMBER 1 PRIORITY at training...HAS TO BE!
.... been a problem for far too long. Fix that and our boys are unstoppable and can run rings around other teams..
Missing goals gets inside their heads which leads to other stuff ups etc.

Zorko was wholey unaccountable all night and others not much better.
We are soft when the pressure is on and it needs sorting. We will continue to lose the way we always have unless something changes

Definitely underwhelming again, even with three quarters. Running doesn't make up for running himself into pressure and somehow not impacting with that run because our gameplan is numbers.

I'm going to the Essendon game next week but honestly I'm still going to feel flat if we win that, what a massive dagger to our flag chances and completely self inflicted.

Just watched a replay of the Gold Coast Sun's Match. a long way to go still to even get to a Final.
You guy's complaining here about Lions have got nothing to worry about.
It was a good solid hit-out and very close exciting match today. and at the MCG !! excellent preparation.

P’raps people have had a gut full of seeing the same group of players making the same set of mistakes under the same circumstances on repeat. Maybe we do need to make a drastic list change.
